Step 1
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Cut off the top of the onion and remove the papery skin. Then cut about 1/2 inch off the bottom of the onion so it sits flat. Cut the onion into 16 wedges, leaving the bottom intact.

In a large bowl, mix the flour and seasonings. In another large bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.
Step 3
Dip the onion into the egg mixture, making sure it's well coated. Then dip it into the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Repeat the dipping process, making sure the onion is fully coated with both mixtures.
Step 4
Spray the onion with cooking spray to help it turn golden brown and crispy. Place the onion in the air fryer basket, making sure it sits flat. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until the onion is golden brown and crispy. Flip the onion halfway through cooking.
Step 5
Once the onion is cooked, let it cool for a few minutes before serving it with the dipping sauce.
