Rinse thin flattened rice in cold running water 2-3 times, drain out the water completely and keep aside.

Heat oil in a cooking pan on low-medium heat. Add mustard seeds and allow them to pop. Add urad dal, fry until golden brown and then add peanuts, and fry them until light brown.

Add green chili, chopped onion and a sprig of curry leaves. Sauté until onion becomes translucent.
Step 4
Add frozen green peas and salt, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes until green peas are done. Add turmeric powder, rinsed flattened rice, shredded coconut and give everything a good mix. Turn off the heat and garnish avalakki with cilantro and drizzle of lemon juice. Enjoy yummy avalakki or poha with some curd/yogurt or as is!
