Export 8 ingredients for grocery delivery
I like to grind the dried spices to both bring out the flavor and make them into more of a powder. A spice grinder works great for this. However, I use a mortar and pestle. Add that to the rest of the ingredients. Store in an airtight container. Mix It Up - Experiment with different smoked salts. If you want a more smoky flavor, go with mesquite - Reduce the black pepper and add your favorite dried pepper(Aleppo, Chili, Chipotle, etc.) to add some heat. - To increase caramelization, add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar - Add a couple of teaspoons of sweet or smoked paprika Use: Dry the meat (steak or burger) on all sides with a paper towel. Spray each side with a cooking spray or lightly oil. I use Chosen Foods Avocado spray. Dust each side with black magic dust and lightly press into meat. Doing this a couple of hours ahead of time and letting it rest in the refrigerator will result in a juicier and more flavorful meat. Cook per your normal routine.
