Line a 20 cm pan with two thicknesses of baking paper.

Combine dates and mixed fruit in a saucepan with butter, spice and water. Stir over low heat until butter has melted.

Step 5
Spread evenly into pan and bake for 2 hours at 170C.
Step 6
Cover with foil until cold.
