Remove and discard stems and seeds of chiles.
Step 3
Place chiles on a baking tray/sheet pan and bake for 10-15 minutes to dry them out further. They should be more brittle and less pliable.
Step 4
Remove from oven and cool. Working in batches if necessary, place extra-dried chiles into a grinder and pulse to a fine powder.
Step 5
Store in an airtight container and use as needed.
