Step 1
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced onions, pepper flakes and salt, then saute until the onions are tender. Stir in the minced garlic.

Reduce the heat to medium-low, and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, for 30 to 40 minutes or until the onions are a deep golden brown.
