Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2

Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

In a pot of salted boiling water, cook the macaroni to al dente, according to the package directions. Drain the water.

In large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter.

Step 5

Stir the ham and the onion into the melted butter and cook until the onion is tender, about 5 minutes.

Step 6

Stir the garlic into the ham mixture and cook for 2 minutes.

Step 7

Transfer the skillet from the heat.

Add the cooked macaroni, the cheddar cheese, the cream of celery soup, the peas, the milk, the sour cream, the onion powder, and the garlic powder to the ham mixture and mix well.

Bake the casserole until the cheese has melted, about 25 minutes.

Sprinkle the crispy fried onions over the casserole and bake until it is golden, about 5 minutes.
