Red Sweetheart Waffles With Strawberry Sauce

Step 1

Spray and heat up waffle iron.

Step 2

In a small pot mix, strawberries, sugar, water, and orange juice, and zest.

Step 3

Cook on med-high until bubbly. Add cornstarch and whisk until it starts to thicken.

Step 4

Turn to simmer and slightly mash. Set aside for waffles.

Step 5

Mix waffle ingredients adding food coloring (optional) until the desired color. Stir.

Step 6

Following manufacturer instructions for your waffle maker, pour batter into the waffle maker and cook.

Step 7

Assemble 2 waffles top with strawberry sauce, dust with powdered sugar, and whipped cream!
