Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

In a medium bowl, combine the ground chuck hamburger meat, bread crumbs, egg, onion soup mix, water, and black pepper.

Roll the meat mixture out onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Mark out your patties in approximately 3 inch squares by making an indent in the meat.

Punch 5 holes into each patty so that the meat has some ventilation while it's cooking.

Bake the meat in the oven for about 10 minutes until browned. It should be at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit using a meat thermometer.

Drain any extra grease.

Cut along the indentations to make your square patties.
