Step 1
If you're using fresh bread, bake the slices at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 minutes on either side. Skip this step if you're using stale bread.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Place a cooling rack on top of a sheet pan.
Step 3
Place the honey in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 15 seconds.
Step 4
In a pie pan, whisk together the microwaved honey, eggs, salt, and half-and-half to make the custard.
Step 5
Dip both sides of the bread slices into the custard, letting each side sit for 10 seconds to absorb it. Place them on the cooling rack for 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 6
Meanwhile, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large pan over low heat. Pan-fry the bread slices, 2 at a time, for 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
Step 7
Place the bread slices in a baking dish and bake in the middle rack of the oven for 5 minutes.
Step 8
Serve hot with syrup, fresh fruits, and whipped cream. Enjoy!
