Homemade Molasses Substitute Recipe

Step 1

Mix together sugar and water.

Step 2

Bring it to boil.

Step 3

The sugar will melt and start boiling.

Step 4

Add juice from half lemon and the lemon peel too.

Step 5

Boil it until thick. Take a few drops of the syrup on a plate and let it cool down.

Step 6

It should be of consistency of thick honey.

Step 7

Once this consistency is reached, remove the syrup from flame, remove the lemon peel and immediately transfer to a storage jar.
