Step 1
Thoroughly wash the potatoes and set them to the side.

Prepare a large pot by filling it with water and adding salt. Stir vigorously until the salt dissolves fully. (Don't let any sink to the bottom of the pot.)

Transfer the potatoes to the salted water. Bring the water to a boil.

Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat slightly and simmer for about 15 minutes. The potatoes should be tender but still firm.

Drain the pot of water. Cover it with a lid to keep the potatoes hot, and let the salt crust form.
Step 6
Meanwhile, melt the butter in the microwave or on the stove stove over medium-high heat. When the potatoes are ready and the salt crust has formed, drizzle them generously with the melted butter.
Step 7
Serve while the potatoes are still warm. Garnish with any optional toppings, and enjoy!
