Aunt Bee’s easy 3-Ingredient Biscuit recipe yields homemade buttermilk biscuits that are flaky, buttery and ready for the oven in 10 minutes!

Preheat the oven to 425°. Spray an 8-inch or 9-inch round pan with a light coat of cooking spray and set aside.

Place flour in a large bowl. Use a pastry cutter or forks to work the butter into the flour until the lumps are about the size of large peas. Alternatively, you can freeze the butter and use a grater to grate the butter into the flour.

Add ⅔ cup of buttermilk, and use a wooden spoon or spatula to stir until a soft dough forms. Add small amounts of additional buttermilk slowly, as needed, until the dough reaches this consistency.

Flour a work surface. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 1 minute (folding the dough back over on itself), adding flour to the counter and your hands, as necessary, to prevent sticking. Pat to ¾-inch thickness.

Use a biscuit cutter to cut out the individual biscuits. I used a 2 ½ -inch cutter here, which yielded 7-8 large biscuits. You can also use a 2-inch cutter to yield about 12 biscuits. Firmly press the cutter down into the dough, but do not twist. Twisting the biscuit cutter seals off the edges of the biscuits and they therefore will not rise as high.

Roll out the dough once or twice more to use up the remaining dough scraps.

Arrange the biscuits in the prepared pan so that their sides are touching.

At this point, the dough will be a bit warmer from working with it, so I like to place the pan of biscuits in the refrigerator or freezer for 5-10 minutes to chill again (but do not leave it in the fridge or freezer any longer than that).

Just before you put the biscuits in the oven, brush the tops with melted butter.

Bake for 14 -15 minutes, or until they&#039;re a light golden brown. Brush the tops of the biscuits with additional melted butter when they come out of the oven and serve warm.

Easy Homemade Biscuits

salted butter (cubed and very cold; ¾ cup = 1 ½ sticks of butter)

Grease a large cast-iron skillet with shortening or melted butter. (You can also use a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.)

Pulse

Add flour and cubed butter to a food processor. Pulse just until butter is pea-size and incorporated (about 10 quick pulses). (If you don&#39;t have a food processor, you can cut the butter into the flour with a pastry cutter or a fork.)

Pour the flour mixture into a large mixing bowl. Make a well in the middle of the flour mixture and pour the buttermilk into the well. Using a rubber spatula, fold the flour mixture into the buttermilk until the dough comes together but is still crumbly. (Don&#39;t overmix.)

Fold

Turn the dough out onto a well floured surface. With floured hands, bring the dough together and gently flatten out into a ¾-inch thick rectangle. Trifold the dough in over itself, using a bench scraper as needed. Pat the dough back down to a ¾-inch thick rectangle and trifold one more time. Gently pat the dough back down to ¾-inch thickness.

Dip a 2 ¾-inch biscuit cutter or glass jar into flour and then press straight down into the dough. (Don&#39;t twist the cutter or it will seal off the edges of the biscuits and prevent them from fully rising.) Place biscuits in a greased cast-iron skillet (or baking sheet lined with parchment paper) side-by-side touching each other (this will allow the biscuits to climb up each other and fully rise). Bring leftover dough together and flatten back down to ¾-inch thickness. Continue to cut out biscuits, redipping the cutter in flour each time, until all the dough has been used. I usually end up with 12 to 15 biscuits.

Bake

Bake at 450°F for 13 to 16 minutes, until lightly golden brown on top.

Brush

Brush the tops with melted salted butter immediately when they come out of the oven.

Serve

Serve warm with extra butter, jelly, or Country Cream Gravy on top. Enjoy!

Preheat the oven to 250C/500F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the self rising flour, salt, and heavy cream until combined. Using your hands, gently knead several times until smooth.

Lightly flour a kitchen surface and transfer the dough on top. Flatten the dough until around half an inch in thickness. Using a biscuit cutter, cut out biscuits and place them on the lined baking sheet. Brush the tops with extra heavy cream.

Bake the biscuits for 10-12 minutes, until they puff up and begin to go golden on top. Remove them from the oven and if desired, brush with more heavy cream.

So I weighed out everything in grams.  I didn't have heavy cream so I mixed 2% milk and butter.  I had way to much liquid.  I added more self rising flour until it had dough texture like the video.  I chickened out and did 480°f same baking time and they turned out great!!!  I'm so grateful self rising flour is forgiving.

Wonderful biscuits! So fast and fluffy! I made them vegan with trader joes vegan whipping cream which I just found out they will not be selling anymore.  Don't suppose you have any recipes for that?

Thank you so much for this biscuit recipe! I am diabetic and have craved a biscuit with bacon for months, so I made and baked these at 11:00 last night, let the biscuits cool, then stored them in the refrigerator overnight. For lunch today, I FINALLY got to VERY MUCH enjoy a biscuit and bacon sandwich. I am one happy person!

I made these with coconut milk because that’s all I had on hand. Baked in a cast iron skillet for 11 min and decided they need more color. I left them in until they were golden brown and they came out perfect! Recipe is bookmarked!!
