Italian bread

boneless

skinless sardine filets packed in olive oil

Longevity Pasta with Breadcrumbs, Capers, Sardines + Lemon | Dr. Will Li

Meanwhile, place the bread in a food processor (or blender) and pulse until uniform coarse breadcrumbs result, about 1 minute

Pour the olive oil from the tin of sardines into a large pan and heat over medium heat

Add the breadcrumbs and stir continuously until golden brown and crunchy, about 4 minutes

Remove from the heat to prevent burning, transfer the toasted breadcrumbs to a plate and set aside

Heat the EVOO in the same pan over medium-high heat, add the onions and sauté until just caramelized, about 5 minutes

Add the sardines, breaking them into pieces with a fork, and mix evenly with the onions

Stir in the capers, parsley, lemon zest and red pepper flakes

Mix the sauce gently and turn off the heat

Cook the spaghetti in the boiling water until just al dente, about 7 minutes

Drain and reserve ½ cup of the pasta water

Add the spaghetti to the sauce, season to taste with salt and pepper and mix until evenly combined

Turn the heat to medium, add the pasta water and cook, stirring, until the liquid is absorbed, about 1 minute

Sprinkle the pasta with the toasted breadcrumbs, reserving some for serving, then mix again

Serve immediately, topping each portion with another pinch of breadcrumbs

Garnish with a lemon wedge and sprig of parsley

How to Make Longevity Spaghetti | Dr. Will Li

This recipe uses essentially 1¼ cups of different fresh green herbs. I have made it with all different proportions and to be honest, my fav is almost all parsley, with about 2 tablespoons fresh basil to fill in the rest. You can use tarragon, sage, and rosemary, but I find that they are all just a little too unique in flavor to mix in here, and we all know how I feel about cilantro.

Italian Salsa Verde Recipe

capers

anchovy

garlic (peeled, green germ removed)

olive oil

parsley leaves

basil leaves (chopped)

chives

sea salt

lemon juice ((about half a large lemon))

Rinse capers in cold water, then drain.

Soak anchovies in cold water for 5 minutes, then pat dry and remove any large, obvious bones.

Using a mortar and pestle (or a food processor), smash the capers, anchovies and garlic with 2 tablespoons of the olive oil until smooth. Transfer to a large bowl.

Add all the herbs and start with about half the remaining olive oil to start, adding more olive oil until you get a chunky, not oily, texture. Season with sea salt.

If you are eating right away, stir in lemon juice. If you are advance prepping, wait until right before serving to stir in lemon juice.

Serve Salsa Verde alongside roast chicken. Or with other roasted meats. Or with bread as a dip. Or mixed into quinoa. Or just eat it plain. Whatever.

What would I substitute for Strawberries? I'm allergic to them.

Cant wait to try this. I find AMLA quite lemony rather than bitter and it is a staple in my greens porgies and complements kale quite well also. Kale is a strong green which for my taste requires 🍋 lemon, cinnamon or pineapple to override its strong flavor.

Hi Nisha, these are all things I add to my oatmeal, except the cocoa. I never thought to make up a larger batch of them all blended together.  Would there be any downside to grinding the barberries into a rough sort of powder?  Usually I cook them with the oatmeal to soften / hydrate them a bit, so I could always keep those separate.

I am surprisingly ok with the AMLA power, thought it would be really bitter but was fine with the strawberry powder and barberries (I did not add neither the protein nor the cocoa powder though). 

I have a question that I was hoping you can help with: you mentioned waiting for the oatmeal or chia pudding to come to room temp before adding the powder for max benefits. I like taking mine cold from the fridge so wondering if that is because heat damages the structures (in which case I am fine) or if the cold reduces absorption.

 Would you mind letting me know?

High-Protein Roasted Lentils &amp; Quinoa Bowl

green lentils (French, green, or brown)

olive oil (or lemon juice)

paprika

garlic powder

Salt (to taste)

quinoa (or 3 cups cooked)

olive oil ((optional))

brown mustard seeds

cumin seeds ((optional))

green chili peppers

ginger (minced)

tomatoes (chopped (about 5 medium))

turmeric

red chili powder (or cayenne (optional))

black pepper

lemon juice (plus more to taste)

Maple syrup (or agave to taste)

nondairy yogurt (or 1 (5.3-ounce) container)

tahini

dill (or fresh herbs)

maple syrup (or to taste)

For the lentils: Preheat the oven to 400ºF.Cook the lentils in water on the stovetop according to the directions on the packet until al dente. Drain them well using a large mesh sieve. Spread the cooked lentils onto a large rimmed baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil. Add a generous dash of paprika, garlic powder, and salt to taste. Toss the lentils until evenly coated with the seasoning and spread them out so they cook evenly. Roast for about 20 minutes, or until crispy, tossing them after 10 minutes.

Cook the quinoa in broth or water. Use a rice cooker, Instant Pot, or stovetop. Fluff it with a fork and set aside.

For the tomato chutney: Heat 2 teaspoons olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Cook the mustard and cumin seeds for about 1 minute or until they start popping. Add the cumin seeds and cook for about another 30 seconds. (For oil-free, toast the mustard and cumin seeds without oil. Add broth or water with the aromatics.)Add the garlic, ginger, and green chili pepper. Cook over medium-high heat for about 1 minute, or until fragrant. Add the tomatoes, cover, and cook over low heat for about 10 minutes, or until the tomatoes are tender. Mash the tomatoes with the back of a spoon until the desired consistency. Remove from the heat and add the turmeric, red chili powder (if using), and black pepper. Mix well. Add lemon juice, maple syrup, and salt to taste.

Make the yogurt dressing if using: Transfer the yogurt, tahini, lemon juice, zest, and fresh herbs to a medium bowl. Use a garlic press to mince the garlic into the dressing. Mix to combine. Add maple syrup to taste.

This recipe is a home run!! I made it for my lunch meal prep, storing it in four different containers. It was perfect even on the last day. I just put the lentils on one side, the tomato on the other side, and the sauce/carrots on top. Then just mixed it up with my fork right before eating. I will definitely continue making this in the weeks to come.

This was so so yummy!!! I made enough servings to last me for lunches throughout the week, eating it was always one of the highlights of my day! This savory high-protein Miso Vegetable Oats recipe is a nutrient-dense powerhouse, perfect for a hearty breakfast.

Miso Vegetable Oats Recipe

steel-cut oatmeal (rinsed)

lentils

water (or low-sodium vegetable broth)

nondairy milk (or to taste)

walnuts

kale leaves

basil leaves

mellow miso (or white miso)

mustard powder

lemons

water

Medjool date (or to taste)

Cook the oats and lentils: Bring the water to a simmer in a medium saucepan. Add the oats and lentils. Simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes or until the desired creaminess, stirring occasionally and scraping along the bottom to prevent sticking.

Add the nondairy milk if using. Stir to combine.

Make the green miso sauce: Transfer the walnuts, kale, basil, miso, garlic, lemon juice, water, and dates to a blender. Blend on high until mostly smooth.

For serving, heat the lentil oats until warmed through. Remove from the heat. Mix in the desired amount of green sauce. Top with longevity foods.

This is the first recipe I've used from this site. I used veggie broth with mine and it tastes so good! I topped mine with chili crisp because I like it spicey.

Oh wow, this is delicious!  It is our first savory oats dish and my husband and I love it.  I subbed cilantro for basil and lime juice for lemon, which is what we had on hand, and added crushed red pepper for some kick (we like spicy).   We are addicted.  This is now a permanent addition to our breakfast menu.  Do you think the porridge (just the cooked oats and red lentils) would freeze ok?  I would like to batch cook it. This is the first recipe of your I’ve tried.   I just halved the recipe for the sauce and it made plenty!  Goji berries are also delicious on top as I didn’t have the barberries.
