These Easy Baked Glazed Chocolate Doughnuts are a sweet, family-friendly homemade treat that will be gobbled up in seconds by children and adults alike.

Easy Baked Glazed Chocolate Donuts

all-purpose flour

cocoa powder

sugar

baking powder

salt

egg (lightly beaten)

milk

butter (melted)

vegetable oil

vanilla

confectioner's sugar

vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease 3 (6 section) doughnut pans well.

Into a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, vegetable oil, and vanilla.

Stir the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined.

Spoon the batter into the baking pans, filling each one a little more than three-quarters full.

Bake for 17 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then tap the doughnuts out onto a sheet pan.

For the Donuts

Combine all the ingredients in a medium bowl and mix until smooth. 

Place baking paper under wire racks to catch the excess glaze.

As each batch is finished baking, coat the hot donuts in glaze on both sides by dunking each side quickly. Set them on a wire rack to let the excess drip off onto the baking paper underneath.

Once you reach the end, re-dip for a second time.

Baked Donut Recipe

all-purpose flour ((280 grams))

sugar ((100 grams))

cinnamon

nutmeg

buttermilk ((360 milliliters))

egg (room temperature)

unsalted butter (melted)

sugar ((240 grams))

sprinkles ((optional))

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Spray two (6-well) donut baking pans with baking spray. (This is a non-stick spray that contains flour, designed for baking!).

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, butter, vegetable oil, and vanilla. Add the buttermilk mixture to the flour mixture, whisking until fully combined. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag.

Pipe about 1/4 cup donut batter into each well. Bake until donuts are puffed and lightly golden, about 8 to 10 minutes. Immediately invert onto a wire rack and coat with cinnamon sugar or vanilla glaze.

Donuts:

In a small bowl, whisk together sugar and cinnamon. When the donuts come out of the oven, let them cool for 2 minutes, then immediately toss them in cinnamon sugar. (If the donuts are too cooled and the sugar mixture is not sticking, brush lightly with melted butter then toss in the sugar mixture.)

For the Cinnamon Sugar:

When the donuts are cooled completely, in another small bowl, whisk together the confectioners’ sugar, milk, and vanilla. Dip the cooled donuts in glaze and return to the wire rack. Immediately add sprinkles, if desired. Let stand until the glaze is set.
