Banh Hoi is a Vietnamese dish consisting of rice noodles served with a meat dish. Banh Hoi is the signature dish of Banh Dinh, Province of Vietnam. People of Banh Dinh use Banh Hoi with almost every meal instead of rice or noodles soup.

Banh Hoi

Pound Bottom sirloin steak (Well-trimmed):

Cloves Garlic (Minced and crushed)

Shallot (finely chopped)

Tbsp Light brown sugar

Salt

Tbsp Black pepper (Freshly ground)

Tbsp Fish Sauce

Tbsp Light soy sauce

Tbsp Oil

Pound Fresh Banh Hoi rice noodles

Cup Scallion Oil

Head Soft leaf lettuce

Springs cilantro

Spring Mint

Springs of red perilla(Optional)

Cup Nuoc Cham dipping sauce

Cut the beef into thin strips of 1/4 inch thick and 1 1/2 inch wide and 3 inches long.

In a bowl, combine oil, brown sugar, and soy sauce. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Now add garlic, salt, pepper, shallots, and fish sauce. Mix all the ingredients well.

Now add meat stripes and coat the marinade on the stripes. Use your hands to press the mixture into the stripes. Cover and marinate it for 1 hour at room temperature.

In the meanwhile, prepare the Banh Hoi noodles. Cut the noodles into playing card-sized pieces with the help of a scissor. Arrange them in a platter and top with scallion oil to keep from drying.

Soak the skewers for 15-20 minutes in water and arrange the meat slices on the soaked skewers. You can grill the slices as an individual.Cook the meat slices for 5-7 minutes until brown, while turning frequently.

Prepare a salad platter by arranging the green lettuce, Springs cilantro, red perilla,  cucumber, and mint and place it on the table.

Put the dipping sauce in a bowl and arrange it on the table.

Arrange the grilled slices on a platter, whether on skewers or remove from the skewers and serve with salad and dipping sauce.

Vermicelli woven served with chewy soy-glazed tofu, green onions, cucumber, and plenty of fresh herbs! A healthy and delicious Vietnamese-inspired dish!

Vegan Bánh Hỏi (Vietnamese Rice Vermicelli Woven)

tofu

tbsp oil

green onions

tbsp sweet chili sauce (or sriracha)

soy sauce

tsp sugar

tsp five spice powder

water

rice vermicelli woven

rice paper

For serving: lettuce, basil, perilla leaves, sliced cucumber, fried onions

fish sauce

tbsp sugar

lime juice

garlic (finely minced)

Thai chili (chopped, optional.)

Start by deep-frying the tofu until golden brown. You can deep-fry it in a deep saucepan, or fry it in an air-fryer. Once golden brown, transfer to a plate lined with kitchen paper towels to remove excess oil.

Heat the two tablespoons of oil in a large non-stick skillet. Once hot, add the chopped green onions and cook for 1-2 minutes. Transfer the sautéed green onions with the remaining oil to a small bowl and set aside.

To the same skillet, add the fried tofu rectangles. Pour in the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, sugar, five spice powder, and water. Let simmer for 5-8 minutes, or until no more liquid remains and the tofu is glazed. Remove from heat and transfer to a plate.

To cook the vermicelli: Place the dry rice vermicelli woven in a deep plate or dish. Pour boiling water over the vermicelli and let it sit for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Drain and transfer to a bowl of cold water to cool. Drain the rice vermicelli woven well and roll each one into a roll. Arrange the rolls on a plate and top with the cooked green onions and drizzle with some of the oil.

To serve: Dip a sheet of rice paper in warm water for a few seconds. Place a leaf of lettuce and some fresh herbs in the middle of the rice paper. Top with a vermicelli woven (unrolled), a piece of tofu, and sliced cucumber. Roll tightly and dip in the sauce!Alternatively, if you don&#39;t want to serve it in rice paper, you can simply roll a rectangle of tofu, some herbs, and a thin slice of cucumber in the rice vermicelli woven and dip into the sauce.

Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
