best turkey chili

This healthy Turkey Chili recipe is packed full of lean protein, veggies, and so much flavor! It&#39;s simple to make and the perfect comfort meal on a cold day. It stores well and freezes great so make a big batch.

Turkey Chili

Tablespoons olive oil (, divided)

turkey

yellow onion (, medium, diced)

celery ribs (, diced)

carrot (, shredded)

garlic (, minced)

masa harina

Tablespoon cumin

garlic powder

Tablespoon kosher salt

chili powder

ancho chili powder (,

paprika

cinnamon

coriander

tomatoes

chicken broth

kidney beans (, drained)

15 oz can creamed corn

15 oz can black beans (, drained)

Heat 1 Tablespoon olive oil over medium heat in a dutch oven or stockpot. Add the ground turkey and cook, crumbling into small pieces, until cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Add 2 tablespoons of oil to the pot. Once hot, add onion, celery, poblano, carrot, and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until sautéed.

Meanwhile, in a small bowl mix the masa harina, cumin, garlic powder, salt, chili powders, paprika, cinnamon and coriander.

Add the turkey back to the pot and sprinkle the seasonings over it. Stir everything well to combine. Add chicken broth, diced tomatoes, beans and corn and stir well.

Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally to scrape the bottom of the pan.

Serve topped with sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, diced green onions, and hot sauce, if desired.

This was INCREDIBLE! The flavor are complex and so yummy, I think the masa really elevates the sauce. The creamed corn is such a cool idea too, I've never had a chili like that before. Thank you for this recipe it will be a new staple for me!

This is on repeat all winter. I love all the added veggies. The taste can’t be beat and the entire family asks for it.

Our turkey chili recipe is so filling and satisfying! It&#039;s meaty and comes together quickly on the stove or cooks effortlessly in the slow cooker*. It&#039;s on the regular rotation at our house. Serve in bowls with tortilla chips or over baked potatoes with your favorite chili toppings.* 

Turkey Chili Recipe

olive oil

lb turkey

red onion (diced, or yellow onion)

Tbsp chili powder

cumin powder

oregano

tsp black pepper (or

oz tomatoes

tomato sauce

oz black beans

oz beans

oz pinto beans with their juice (or white beans

corn corn

chicken stock

In a 5 Qt pot or Dutch oven over medium/high heat, add 1 Tbsp olive oil and sautee ground turkey until cooked through (5 min). 

Add diced onion, chili powder, cumin powder, garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper. Sautee 5 minutes or until onions are softened. 

Add canned diced tomatoes with juice, tomato sauce, beans, diced jalapeños or chilis, and corn.

Stir to combine and bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer partially covered for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add water or chicken stock towards the end if you prefer a thinner chili. Keep in mind it thickens slightly as it cools. Season to taste towards the end of cooking (I like to add an extra 1/2 tsp salt).

So good!! I made it tonight! My new favorite! I did add an extra half pound of turkey meat.

Made this easy fast chili on a cold snowy day!! I ale ways substitute turkey in a lot of recipes. Only change was omitting corn. Plus added a can of Rotel tomatoes!!

Yet another winner, Natasha!  It's absolutely delicious and so easy to make.

Made tonight for supper.
It was excellent.  Didn't change the spices at all. Just omitted white beans and corn.
Will share with friends and family.

Great recipe, however I used leftover beef brisket and beef broth instead of the turkey and chicken broth. Absolutely fantastic!

Dear Natasha, Just FYI, turkey is for Thanksgiving, but, this is a kickin' recipe with ground beef. :-)

P.S. Your's is the only cooking website I subscribe to.  I pay more attention to you than Food Network.  Recipes are some of my favorites.  Also, I find you to be a little goofy...in a good way.

My Family Loves Your Turkey Chili Recipe! Thanks Natasha! It doesn't say anything about draining the cooked ground Turkey. I've been using 85/15. I do drain it.
