Tender, succulent shrimp seasoned with blackening spices, topped with lime crema, fresh pico de gallo and cilantro all wrapped in warm tortillas!

Blackened Shrimp Tacos with Lime Crema

shrimp

tbsp blackening seasoning (recipe above)

olive oil

lime crema (for topping, recipe above)

Cotija cheese (crumbled)

Pico de Gallo (for topping)

cilantro (for topping)

In a medium bowl, generously season shrimp with blackening spice and add a drzzle of olive oil. Gently stir to coat shrimp. Set aside.

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a heavy bottomed skillet over medium high heat. Once pan is hot but not smoking, add shrimp.

Cook shrimp for about 6-8 minutes, until just cooked through. Try to turn only a couple of times to get a nice char on te outside.

Wrap tortillas in damp paper towels and warm in microwave for 45 seconds.

Spoon 6-8 shrimp in each warm tortilla. Drizzle lime crema over taco with a spoon and top with cotija cheese, fresh pico de gallo, and chopped cilantro.

Easy Blackened Shrimp Tacos with Cilantro Lime Sauce

½ lbs. shrimp (jumbo, deveined, tails removed)

Tbsp. butter (or olive oil)

paprika

garlic powder

cayenne pepper

oregano

salt

pepper

Greek yogurt (plain, dairy-free)

cilantro

lime juice

corn tortillas

red cabbage (shredded)

avocado

Place deveined shrimp in a large bowl.

In a medium-sized bowl whisk together paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, oregano, salt, and pepper.

Sprinkle seasonings over shrimp and toss to combine.

Place butter or oil in a cast iron skillet over medium heat.  Add half of the shrimp to the skillet.  Cook shrimp for 3-4 minutes per side.  Repeat with remaining shrimp.

While shrimp are cooking add yogurt, cilantro, lime juice, olive oil, and salt to the bowl of a food processor.  Process until smooth.

Taco Tuesday is extra exciting with these Blackened Shrimp Tacos on the table! Cajun-spiced and perfectly seared shrimp are wrapped in tortillas and topped with cabbage slaw, chipotle aioli, avocado, and cilantro. Ready in 30 minutes!

tsp smoked paprika

tsp cumin

tsp salt

cabbage slaw

flour tortillas

Place the shrimp in a large bowl, then sprinkle the smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and oregano overtop; stir to combine.

Heat olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat, then add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, being careful not to overcook.

Meanwhile, heat the tortillas either in a skillet or directly over the stove if you have a gas stove. And, if you haven’t already, make the chipotle aioli.

To assemble: add a few shrimp to each tortilla, then add your taco toppings of choice. Drizzle with the chipotle aioli and enjoy!
