A recipe for frosting made especially for brownies. Rich, chocolate flavor, just the right amount and easy to make.

The Best Brownie Frosting Recipe

unsalted butter

tbsp cocoa powder

tsp vanilla extract

tbsp milk

confectioners' sugar

In a large heatproof bowl, microwave the butter and cocoa powder until butter is melted. Beat together with a hand mixer until smooth. Add the vanilla and milk and stir.

Add the confectioners&#x27; sugar and stir, slowly at first, until incorporated; then beat on medium speed until frosting is smooth and creamy, about 1 minute. use immediately on cooled brownies, or store, covered at room temperature, for up to a day.

Strawberry Brownies (From Cake Mix!) with Chocolate Brownie Frosting

strawberry cake mix

eggs

unsalted butter (melted (or flavorless oil))

unsalted butter (softened)

cocoa powder

corn syrup (or honey)

vanilla extract

sugar

heavy cream

salt

For The Strawberry Brownies: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Set out a 9X13 inch baking dish. Then line it with parchment paper or foil. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mixes, eggs, and melted butter. Stir until smooth.

Scoop the thick batter into the prepared pan. Spread it out in an even layer. Then  bake for 15-17 minutes. You want the edges to be set and the center to be just baked through, so the texture is fudgy.

For The Brownie Frosting: Allow the strawberry brownies to cool as you make the frosting. In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer to beat the softened butter and cocoa powder together until very smooth.

Scrape the bowl and beat in the corn syrup and vanilla extract. Then turn the mixer on low and beat in the powdered sugar and a pinch of salt.

Add one tablespoon of heavy cream at a time until the brownie frosting is smooth and spreadable.

Slather the frosting over the warm brownies and let them cool to room temperature.

Then lift the entire sheet of brownies out of the pan by the edges of the parchment paper. Cut and serve.

Brownie Frosting

unsalted butter, (softened)

honey

(125 g) confectioners' sugar

whole milk, (or heavy cream)

Mix all ingredients except the milk.

In a stand mixer with the whisk attachment, or using a hand mixer, combine room temperature butter, cocoa, honey, vanilla, and confectioners sugar.

Turn mixer on low and let it combine ingredients for about 30 seconds.

Add milk.

Slowly add milk, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach desired consistency. You may not need all 3 tablespoons, you may need 1 more, it can vary from season to season and kitchen to kitchen.

Spread frosting over warm brownies.

unsalted butter (melted, 56 grams)

cocoa (35 grams)

confectioners sugar (227 grams)

In a large microwavable safe bowl melt the butter 30 seconds at a time until fully melted.

Add in the ⅓ cup cocoa powder and whisk until smooth.

Add in the 2 cups of confectioners sugar and 3 tbsp milk.

Whisk until smooth and frost right away otherwise it will harden.

Use it to frost these one bowl brownies!

Very tasty and easy! I increased the amount by half - so 3/4 cup butter, 3 cups sugar, 4.5T milk, 1/2 cup chocolate. It was the perfect amount for 9x13 pan of brownies. The frosting crusts over nicely, which is my preferred texture on frosted brownies.

Not a review, but a question. I need to frost some brownies the day before serving them. If I use this frosting, will I need to refrigerate since recipe includes milk? I added a 5 star review, so I wouldn't lower the average.

Awesome recipe. I made mine with creamed strong coffee and I frosted peanut butter cookies. They were soooo rich and fudgy.

If I could give this 10 stars I would!  This truly is a five minute recipe, from gathering the supplies to making this delicious frosting. I have even used it on a yellow cake recipe and everyone loved it, I just doubled the recipe.

Homemade brownies don&#039;t get much better than these fudgy Frosted Brownies! With a moist crumb and a light, airy frosting, they can&#039;t be beat!

Frosted Brownies

butter (, salted)

chocolate chips

all-purpose flour

baking powder

espresso powder (, optional)

butter (, room temperature)

heavy whipping cream

Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare a 9x12 baking pan by spraying generously with non-stick spray and parchment paper and set aside.

In a microwave safe bowl, add the 1 cup butter and 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips and heat in the microwave on 30 second increments, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Set aside to cool.

In the bowl of a stand mixer equipped with a paddle attachment, blend together the 2 cups granulated sugar, 6 large eggs, and 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.

Pour in the cooled chocolate mixture and mix until well combined and smooth.

Sift or whisk together the1 ½ cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon espresso powder, and 2 tablespoons cocoa powder. Mix until just combined and there are no dry spots remaining.

Pour batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth evenly. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the brownies comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely on a wire rack.

In the bowl of a stand mixer equipped with a paddle attachment, cream the softened ½ cup butter on high speed until smooth.

Add the 2 cups powdered sugar,  ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 2-3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and mix on low speed until combined. Increase speed to high for about 1 minutes.

Scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl and mix in the heavy whipping cream until you get desired consistency.

Once the brownies are cool, add the frosting on top and smooth evenly.

Store the brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.

Hands down the best recipe for brownies I’ve ever baked. Served them to dinner guests and gave them some to take home. Everyone remarked that they were delicious and asked for the recipe. They especially remarked on the frosting as being so fluffy and not overly sweet.
