Sloppy Joe Cowboy Beans - DELICIOUS! Easy skillet baked beans seasoned with sloppy joe mix and loaded with beef and bacon. Hands down the best baked beans EVER! Ground beef, bacon, tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, pork &amp; beans, and sloppy joe seasoning mix.  I could make a meal out of just these yummy beans. Great with burgers, hot dogs, chicken, and pork. I made these for a cookout and everyone RAVED about them! Can freeze leftovers for a quick side dish later.

Sloppy Joe Cowboy Beans

beef

Tbsp minced onion flakes

(1.31-oz) packet sloppy joe seasoning

tomato sauce

½ tsp white vinegar

brown sugar

pork & beans in tomato sauce, (undrained)

In a large skillet cook ground beef until no longer pink. Drain fat.

Add remaining ingredients. Stir well. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

Best Ever Cowboy Baked Beans

sweet onion (diced (Vidalia or other sweet onion is fine))

large bell pepper (finely

bacon

oz 1 cup organic tomato sauce

organic Ketchup

molasses (unsulphured)

apple cider vinegar (or replace with white vinegar)

spicy brown mustard (heaping)

yellow mustard (heaping (making

Worcestershire Sauce

garlic powder

onion powder

Cayenne Pepper (more if you like heat)

Kosher Salt

Couple Grinds of Black Pepper

Put sauce together

Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large mixing bowl, add all of the sauce ingredients and stir to combine, whisking if needed.

Add in the rest of the ingredients

Add pork and beans (undrained), tomato sauce, and diced onion and bell pepper. Using a large spoon or spatula stir to combine beans with sauce.

Bake

Pour into casserole baking dish or cast iron skillet or dutch oven. Bake uncovered for 1 1/2 - 2 hours until bubbly and bacon is crispy. If crisper bacon is desired, with beans on middle rack, broil for 2-3 minutes until desired crispness is reached. Allow to rest for 10 minutes and serve warm.

Make ahead

Baked beans can be made ahead of time, refrigerate. Remove from fridge for 1 hour prior to baking, bake as directed.

Freeze

Baked beans may be frozen, but only after they've been baked. Cool completely and transfer to freezer storage container. Beans are good up 7 days refrigerated; 6 months frozen.

Cowboy Baked Beans (aka Calico Beans) are loaded with ground beef and applewood smoked bacon. A great party food recipe for large groups.

Cowboy Baked Beans Recipe (Oven or Slow Cooker)

lb bacon (applewood smoked)

onion

garlic (minced)

beans ((don't drain))

kidney beans ((drain))

cannellini beans ((drain))

black beans ((drain))

apple cider vinegar

ketchup

yellow mustard

Decide if you are going to make them in a slow cooker or bake in the oven. You can use a deep casserole dish or large pot like a dutch oven. I like a large heavy cast iron pot so I can cook in it and finish baking all in one. Slow cookers are great for parties to keep them warm for several hours.

Chop the sliced uncooked bacon into small pieces, over medium heat, brown the bacon in a heavy cast-iron skillet or a large cast iron dutch oven on the stove top using a wooden spoon. Tip, you can cut the bacon into small pieces with clean kitchen scissors right into the pot-I find this faster!

Remove the crispy cooked bacon to a small bowl with a slotted spoon. Don&#39;t remove the bacon drippings from the pan. Next add the chopped onion and brown for 5-6 minutes until translucent, add the minced garlic, stir for one minute.

Next, brown the ground beef, cook for 6-8 minutes. Next, add the bacon, back in with the cooked ground beef, onion, and garlic.

Next, add 3 cans of baked beans (don&#39;t drain), 2 cans of kidney beans (drain), 1 can of cannellini beans (drain), and 2 cans of black beans (drain).

Add the remaining ingredients; brown sugar, cider vinegar, ketchup, and yellow mustard. Stir all the ingredients well to combine.

Place into the slow cooker or large dutch oven or large deep casserole dish. The baked beans usually doesn&#39;t all fit in one standard 9 x 13, you need a deeper dish.

Cook in slow cooker crockpot on low for 2 hours OR bake 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours in a large covered dish. Serve hot.

Cowboy Beans

bacon (I used thick but applewood bacon, chopped)

Tablespoon Chili Powder

salt

pepper

can Pork and beans (not drained)

cannellini beans, drained

kidney beans, drained

barbecue sauce (I used Sweet Baby Rays)

Tablespoons Yellow Mustard

Worcestershire sauce

Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar

It has a rich onion taste and is fit for food dishes like French onion soup. Yellow onions are typically available throughout the year. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  In a large dutch oven or heavy bottom pot add the bacon and cook until crisp.  Remove with a slotted spoon.

Leave some bacon grease in the bottom and add the onion.  Cook until almost tender.

Add in the garlic and ground beef and cook and crumble ground beef until no longer pink.  Drain excess grease.

Add in cooked bacon, chili powder, salt, pepper, pork and beans, cannellini beans, kidney beans, barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire, apple cider vinegar, and stir just until incorporated.

Bake in the oven for 45 minutes.

Holy cow - these are good!  But the recipe makes way more than 4 servings.  I mean, after all, 5 cans of beans and a pound of hamburger, etc will feed a large group and then some.  Luckily it freezes well.

Used this as my main dish and it was delicious can’t wait to make again but am I able to freeze leftovers? Made a good amount so I have plenty of leftovers.

Ty for ur comment bc I have not made cowboy beans before an my hubby dislikes sweet in his meats or veggies so I’ll probably use ur idea an omit the brown sugar an ketchup. Ty
