Air Fryer Crab Wontons

cream cheese (softened)

crab meat crab meat

green onion

Worcestershire sauce

garlic (minced)

wonton wrappers ((12 oz. pkg))

egg (beaten)

Olive oil spray

Preheat air fryer at 350ºF for 5 minutes.

 In large bowl, mix, combine cream cheese, crab meat, green onion, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic. Using a fork, break up large chunks of crab. 

Place 1-1 ½ teaspoons of filling mixture onto the center of each wonton wrapper. Brush all edges with beaten egg. Bringing up diagonal corners, seal wontons. 

Spray lightly with oil and place in air fryer in a single layer. Don’t overcrowd. Cook them in batches. Cook for 6 minutes or until golden brown.

Air Fryer Crab Rangoon

These Crab Rangoon are delectable crispy fried wontons stuffed with cream cheese and crab meat.  They are  always a favorite party appetizer and I love to serve them at holiday cocktail parties.

Crab Rangoon

(8 ounce) boxes cream cheese

garlic powder

onion powder

onions

lb fresh white cooked crab meat flaked

(12 ounces) wonton wraps

Vegetable oil

In food processor pulse cream cheese Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder and green onions several times until mixed. Stir in crab meat.

Holding the wonton wrapper in one hand with a point towards you, dip your index finger on your free hand in cold water. Moisten the edge of 1/2 of the wrap that is furthest from you. Now place a rounded teaspoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the middle. Fold over and gently seal one end to the other.  Press the wrap together to close tightly shaping it into a triangle; working the air bubbles out.  Repeat until the cream cheese mixture is gone; placing them on a cutting board covered with parchment paper and covering with moistened paper towels.

Heat about 1 1/2  inch oil in heavy stock pot (dutch oven) to 375 degrees. Working in small batches cook stuffed wontons for about 1 minute or until golden brown: turning halfway through. Drain on paper towels.

I've never tried these before but they sound so good. I do love this sort of thing but haven't tried any with crab meat.

green onions (chopped)

crabmeat (fully cooked) (flaked)

egg roll wrappers (large wonton wrappers)

vegetable oil

Preheat 2-inches of oil in a large pot to 375F.

In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together the cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce, green onions, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth. Stir in the crabmeat.

Lay out 8 egg rolls wrappers on a clean surface. Scoop the crab mixture evenly into the center of each wrapper. Shape the filling into a log in the center. Fold in the sides and then roll up the egg roll (the egg roll wrap package may provide pictures that will help if you&#039;ve never rolled an egg roll). Brush some water under the overlapping parts of the egg roll to seal the edges closed.

Carefully lower a few of the egg rolls into the hot oil and deep fry in small batches until golden brown on all sides. Remove from the oil and place on paper towels or a wire cooling rack to drain off excess oil.

Serve warm with dipping sauces of your choice.

Crab Rangoon (Crispy Recipe)

Tbsp cream cheese (room temperature)

imitation crab meat

Tbsp chopped green onion

sugar

lemon juice

½ tsp dehydrated onion flakes

black pepper

wonton wrappers (square)

water

neutral oil

Gather all the filling ingredients and combine in a bowl. Fold the cream cheese mixture until smooth. Make sure the cream cheese is soft enough to mix.

Have a small bowl of water, wonton wrappers and cream cheese mixture. Arrange them on a flat surface. To prevent wonton wrappers from drying out, you can use damp paper towel or plastic wrap to cover. I like to use either the wooden cutting board or a plastic tray as my work surface. If you want an easy clean up, cover the tray with parchment paper.

Wet all the wrapper edges with water using your index finger. Grab a spoonful of filling and place in the middle of a wonton wrapper.

Bring 4 opposite corners towards the center of the wrapper. Then pinch with your fingers creating like a cross design on top. Make sure all the edges are tightly sealed to prevent leakage when deep frying. If the wontons are stubborn and not sticking well together, use egg wash instead of water.

Heat oil in a pot. While the oil is heating up, either have a baking sheet with layers of paper towel or metal cooling rack ready. To check to see if oil is hot, insert a chopstick vertically in the middle of the pot. If there are many bubbles rising up, the oil is ready. Another method is to wait until the oil reaches a temperature between 350-375 degrees F. Carefully drop one rangoon at a time, without over crowding the pot. Deep fry for about 2mins or until golden brown on all sides. Scoop and place hot wontons on the tray with paper towel or cooling rack.

Can serve hot or room temperature with dipping sauce of choice.

I did not think crab rangoon could be so crispy and flavorful. This is better than takeout!
