Chicken Gravy Recipe

chicken broth

chicken bouillon cube

onion powder

garlic powder

thyme

sage

water corn starch

unsalted butter

Add the chicken broth, soy sauce, bouillon, and seasonings to a medium pot.

Combine the cold water and corn starch in a small Tupperware with a lid. Shake to combine.

Bring gravy to a boil and whisk in the cornstarch mixture. Reduce heat to medium low. Continue to whisk to ensure that it blends in smoothly.

Let it gently simmer until its of desired thickness.

Remove from heat. Swirl in one tablespoon COLD butter just before serving. This adds a silky, velvety finish.

This easy vegetarian gravy recipe uses simple ingredients and comes together in just 15 minutes! Use it over meatballs or with biscuits and gravy.

Perfect Vegetarian Gravy

onion (1/3 cup minced)

fennel seeds

cayenne pepper

flour (for gluten-free, use 1

vegetable broth

milk

salt

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, then saute onion for 3 minutes until tender. Add the fennel, thyme, and cayenne and saute for 1 minute over medium heat until fragrant.

Add the flour and cook for 4 to 6 minutes, stirring frequently, until the color turns to golden and then to a medium brown (this is called a roux).

Reduce the heat to medium low. Add the vegetable broth and stir until smooth and thickened. Drizzle in the milk, stirring constantly, making sure each bit is incorporated before adding more. Then stir in the salt. Stir until thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat; the gravy will continue to thicken as it cools. Taste and add an additional pinch or two of salt as necessary.

This is a quick and easy way to make Low Carb Gravy. Just take the drippings and liquid in the turkey pan and turn them into the best Keto gravy you’ve had!

Easy Perfect Keto Gravy Recipe

To be sure that you have enough liquid to make gravy after the turkey is cooked, put at least 4-6 cups of water in the turkey pan. That way when the turkey juices drip into the pan you will have a tasty broth and plenty of it.

Keto Gravy

Truly the best mushroom gravy recipe! It's super easy, vegan-adaptable &amp; gluten-free adaptable, and soooooooooo full of flavor, depth and complexity with the addition of miso! Use this on mashed potatoes, turkey or stuffing!

Mushroom Gravy 

veggie broth

water

miso paste (see notes for substitution)

—–

butter (or vegan butter!)

shallot, finely diced (or half an onion)

garlic,

thyme leaves (optional, sub 1 teaspoon dried)

flour flour

salt and pepper

Place broth and water in a small pot and bring to a simmer, then stir in miso until disolved.

At the same time, heat butter ( or oil)  in a large skillet and saute mushrooms and shallot over med-high heat. Saute 7-8 minutes, lowering heat if necessary, stirring occasionally, until mushrooms have fully released their liquid and all this liquid has cooked off.

Lower heat to medium, add garlic and thyme, saute 2 minutes.

Sprinkle the flour over top and stir to combine, cooking and stirring the flour 2 minutes, letting it brown a bit. Here is where the flavor is!

Add 1/2 of the hot broth, whisking and scraping all those flavorful browned-bits. When incorporated, add the remaining broth, stirring to combine Simmer gently on med-low until reduced and thickened, about 5 minutes.  Taste for salt, adding some if needed along with pepper.

This is the only gravy recipe that I will make. It’s our thanksgiving go-to. Since I found it, this is my favorite dish on thanksgiving. Thank you for this spectacularness.

This recipe is just delicious! Even though I cook for only two people, this gravy is so scrumptious that I always make a triple batch to serve over mashed cauliflower and potatoes. Particularly yummy with chicken breasts sliced thickly crossways and poached in the liquid - pop them in and bring to a simmer then switch off with a lid to keep the warmth in for 10-20 minutes. Juicy and divine!!

Easy Vegan Gravy (Gluten-Free, 5 Minutes!)

gluten-free all-purpose flour (or fine oat flour; see Notes)

yeast

thyme (not powdered; see Notes)

Warm

First, combine the broth and water and warm them on the stove or in a microwave (they don&#39;t need to be hot, just not cold). Set aside.

Cook

In a heavy-bottom saucepan, whisk together the flour, nutritional yeast, and thyme. Place the pan over medium-low heat, and while whisking, drizzle in the olive oil. Whisk until smooth, and then continue to whisk and cook for about 30 seconds or until glossy and hot.

Simmer

Add the salt and pepper. While whisking, slowly pour in the broth and water. The gravy may look clumpy for a moment but will smooth out as you continue to whisk. Keep stirring and cook until hot and thickened, 2-3 minutes. Taste for seasoning.

Serve

Serve hot or allow to cool completely before storing in the refrigerator.

Homemade Gravy Recipe

Melt the 1/4 cup unsalted butter over medium heat in a saucepan.

When melted, whisk with the 1/4 cup flour until a paste forms. Continue to whisk until roux starts to brown and become fragrant.

Slowly add the 2 cups low-sodium broth and 2 tablespoons drippings while whisking vigorously. Continue to whisk until fully heated.

Taste test for seasoning. Add the Kosher salt &amp; freshly ground black peppersparingly until desired taste is achieved.

Add other Other flavor add-ins, if desired and continue to heat for 5-15 minutes.

Yes, the potato trick does help remove salt.  I am the gravy queen in our family and showed how to do that one year when the broth left from the host's cooking was too salty to make gravy with-astounded a couple of people, and we got the gravy made.  It certainly won't take all the salt out, but will help- and if you want to you can save the potato to add to soup, mashed potatoes, potato pancakes, etc. where the salt from it can be used rather than adding the salt you usually night add, and there is no waste that way.   Using cream to make the gravy rather than just water or broth will also tone down the saltiness. I always get as close to a salt-free broth as I can-trust me, it is a lot easier to add some than get excess out, and with low sodium broth, if I want to use a seasoning blend, I don't have  to worry about too much salt. Also, if you read labels on broth, you will learn that many times the ones that say "low sodium" actually have more sodium than some that do not say that-odd, but true, so double check the nutrition labels.
The ratios in the recipe here are just fine for making a nice gravy, as are the instructions
