Crispy Fish Tacos Recipe by Tasty

Make the cabbage slaw: Combine the cabbage, onion, tomato, cilantro, jalapeño, lime juice, and salt in a large bowl. Toss well, then set aside.

Make the crispy fish: In a large bowl, combine the flour, Old Bay, and baking powder. Add the beer and whisk until smooth. Let sit for 15 minutes.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot until it reaches 350°F (180°C).

Coat the fish in the batter, then transfer to the oil and fry until golden on the outside and cooked through, 5-7 minutes. Drain the fish on a wire rack set over a baking sheet lined with paper towels.

Make the avocado crema: Add the avocados, sour cream, lime juice, and salt to a blender and blend until smooth.

To assemble the tacos, add a bit of the cabbage slaw to a warmed tortilla. Top with a piece of fried fish, avocado crema, and sliced radish.

mayo (I use avocado oil)

lime (juice of)

Dredging for fish: In a medium bowl, add flour, taco seasoning, garlic powder, cornstarch, salt and pepper. Stir and set aside.

Fish taco sauce: In a small bowl, add yogurt, mayo, lime juice, taco seasoning, cayenne and black pepper. Stir and set aside.

Toppings: Chop and prepare the toppings.

To cook fish: Preheat large ceramic non-stick skillet on medium-high heat and swirl 1 tbsp of oil. In batches, dredge pieces of fish in flour mixture and fry for 2-3 minutes per side or until crispy and brown. Fish cooks fast, so don&#039;t over cook. Do not overcrowd the skillet - helps to keep fish crispy. Remove onto a plate.

To assemble tacos: Warm tortillas in a cast iron skillet on high heat for 10 seconds per side and pressing on with spatula. Fill each tortilla with 3-4 pieces of fish, add toppings and drizzle with sauce. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings (please see suggestions in notes).

Baked Fish Tacos with Chipotle Lime Cream Sauce

olive oil

cumin

chili powder

coriander

kosher salt

cracked pepper

mayo

diced chiles in adobo

juice of 1 lime

water

flour tortillas

Pico de Gallo

Minute Cilantro Lime Slaw

Place fish in a baking dish and drizzle with olive oil.

Sprinkle fillet with cumin, chili powder, garlic, powder, coriander, and a couple large pinches of salt and pepper. Use your hands to gently massage the spices into the fillet.

Bake for 12-14 minutes or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.

While the fish is baking, whisk sour cream, mayo, chiles, lime juice, and water in a bowl until smooth and creamy. Season to taste with salt and pepper. 

Flake fish into bite-size pieces and divide evenly between tortillas.

Add Cilantro Lime Slaw, a drizzle of chipotle lime cream sauce, and top with Pico de Gallo!

I've never felt so healthy stuffing my face to the gills! Get it?...Gills?... Fish tacos?... I'll see myself out.

I had always wanted to try fish tacos. We live in Missouri, near ponds &amp; lakes, and we love to fish.  But, we have freshwater fish.  I used 2 lb of "flathead" catfish for this recipe.  I found that the catfish filets needed to bake about 8 min longer than recommended.  The fish was wonderful!  It was flaky and seasoned perfectly.  I'm making this recipe again tonight!

The Best Homemade Tacos - Ground beef and homemade taco seasoning make the best taco meat in this classic easy recipe that&#x27;s better than take out.

The Best Homemade Tacos Recipe

Add the beef to a large skillet over medium-high heat.  Break the meat apart with a wooden spoon.  Add the chili powder, cumin, salt, oregano, garlic powder, and pepper to the meat.  Stir well.  Cook until the meat is cooked through, about 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Reduce the heat to medium.  Add the tomato sauce and water.  Stir to combine.  Cook, stirring occasionally, for 7-8 minutes, until some of the liquid evaporates but the meat mixture is still a little saucy.  Remove from the heat.

Warm the taco shells according to their package directions.

Fill the taco shells with 2 heaping tablespoons of taco meat.  Top with desired taco toppings:  shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, diced red onion, taco sauce, sour cream, guacamole, etc.

The Best Classic Tacos Recipe

This easy salmon tacos with avocado slaw recipe is the best way to eat salmon! Spicy salmon with a cool, crunchy slaw. Simple and healthy!

Salmon Tacos

extra virgin olive oil

chipotle chile powder

lime

Corn or flour tortillas (for serving)

feta cheese

Hass avocado

Greek yogurt

limes

broccoli slaw mix or shredded cabbage

cilantro

Mash

Prepare the slaw: In a mixing bowl, mash the avocado, Greek yogurt, and olive oil together until mostly smooth.

Stir

Stir in the salt, lime zest and juice, and hot sauce.

Stir in the slaw and cilantro. Taste and adjust hot sauce and salt as desired. Cover with plastic, pressing the plastic against the top of the mixture to deter the avocado from browning, and refrigerate until ready to serve. (The slaw can sit for several hours and will taste better if it rests for at least 1 hour; if you don’t have time, the resting while you prep the salmon will still give you good results.)

Brush

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Line a baking dish or rimmed baking sheet large enough to hold the salmon with parchment paper or foil. Place the salmon in the center and pat dry. Brush the top of the salmon with the oil.

In a small bowl, stir together the chipotle powder, garlic powder, lime zest, and salt.

Sprinkle

With a small spoon, sprinkle it evenly over the top of the salmon. (Reserve the zested lime for serving).

Bake

Transfer the dish to the oven and bake the salmon for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fish (a 1-inch fillet will take around 12 minutes), until the salmon is just cooked through and reaches 140 to 145 degrees F on an instant read thermometer (fish is done at 145; once mine hits 140, I remove it to a plate, cover it, and let it rest for several minutes; the carryover cooking will finish the rest).

Serve

Cut the zested lime in half or into quarters and squeeze the juice over the top of the salmon. To serve, pile the salmon and slaw into the warmed tortillas. Top with cheese. Enjoy warm, with a dash of extra hot sauce as desired.

Cook the fish:

Cook the fish: Season the fish fillets with salt and pepper on both sides. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the fish fillets to the skillet, and cook for about 2 minutes per side, or until it starts to turn a bit golden. The fish is cooked through when it loses its translucent or raw appearance. Do not overcrowd, you will need to do this in batches. Transfer the fish to a plate and repeat with remaining fish fillets.

Make the Sauce:

Make the Sauce: Mix all the sauce ingredients together in a small bowl and refrigerate until ready to use.

Assemble the tacos:

Assemble the tacos: Lightly toast the tortillas in a skillet over medium-high heat. Using a fork, break the fish into bite size pieces. Top each tortilla with fish, sauce, cabbage, feta cheese, green onions, and garnish with cilantro.

Serve:

Serve: Serve warm with lemon wedges on the side to drizzle lemon juice over the tacos.

These tacos are delicious! I added a pinch of cayenne to both the fish sauce and the green sauce and I also only used one lime on the green sauce, which made it very tasty. I think next time I'd try using less butter in the fish sauce as suggested in one of the comments to try it as a paste, but it was also good as a runny sauce too. Will definitely be making this again!

Super disappointing recipe for me. I usually love your recipes, but this one did nothing for me. The fish was good by itself, but not as a taco. Maybe others will like it.

I actually agree. I have probably made over 75% of the recipes on this blog ON REPEAT...I love them all so much. The fish was good, but the sauce for the slaw was flavorless and dull.

The marinade for the fish was good, the teaspoon of chili powder was barely noticeable which was a plus because I needed my kids to be able to eat the food. The fish came out good, however, the slaw dressing was way too limey  and unpalatable.

These are so good - my entire family loves them! The bonus is how easy they are!
