This easy to prepare almond-crusted fried goat cheese with honey recipe is out of the world! A must try Spanish tapa.

Fried Goat Cheese with Honey

almonds

Ritz crackers (or any other butter cracker, crushed)

Olive oil

Floral honey (I used orange blossom honey)

Crush the almonds and crackers using a food processor (or by hand -- I put them in a heavy ziploc bag and crush with the smooth side of a meat mallet or a rolling pin), mix together and then spread on a plate.

Lightly beat the egg yolks in a wide bowl.

Coat each slice of cheese in the egg yolks, making sure the entire slice is covered.

Coat in the almond/cracker breading-- again, make sure all parts of the cheese are equally covered.

Heat the oil to medium high (but don't let it smoke) and fry the cheese until golden brown on each side, flipping carefully with a spatula after about 1-2 minutes per side.

Let them rest on paper towels for a minute and then serve right away topped with your favorite honey.

Saganaki is usually made with kefalotiri – a hard, mildly salty cheese made from goat's or sheep milk – or kasseri, which has a milder flavour. Both cheeses can be fried, but can be hard to find. Haloumi, although not traditional, works quite well too. The refreshing celery and apple salad makes a terrific foil for the gooey, molten cheese.

Homemade mozzarella sticks are easy to make and taste even better than frozen or takeout versions. Make this fried cheese recipe in 30 minutes!

Homemade Mozzarella Sticks Recipe (Breaded Cheese)

all-purpose flour

salt

black pepper

eggs

water

breadcrumbs

Add 2-3 inches of oil to a deep-frying pan or pot and heat it over medium heat or until it reaches 265 degrees Fahrenheit.

In the meantime, add the flour to a shallow bowl then add the salt and pepper and stir to combine.

In another shallow bowl, whisk the eggs and water together.

Finally, in a separate shallow bowl, add the breadcrumbs.

Dredge the cheese sticks one at a time in the flour then dip them in the egg mixture then coat them in the breadcrumbs and set them on a plate or cooling rack.

Once the oil is ready, fry each of the cheese sticks in the oil for 2-3 minutes or until light and golden. Only add 3-4 cheese sticks at a time to not overcrowd the pan.

Let them cool on a cooling rack or a plate fitted with a paper towel then serve with marinara sauce.

I tried making mozzarella sticks before but they never turned out as well as these. These were so gooey and delicious, I barely got any before my family ate them all! More to be made soon!
