Italian Grinder (TikTok Viral Salad Sandwich)

tbsp Red Wine Vinegar

tsp Italian Seasoning

tsp Red Pepper Flakes

Pepperoncini Peppers

Parmesan Cheese (see blog notes)

Iceberg Lettuce

Large Loaf Crusty Italian Bread

oz Sliced Colby Jack Cheese

lb Salame

lb Capocollo

lb Honey Roasted Turkey Breast (thinly shaved)

oz Prosciutto

Beefsteak Tomato

Parmesan Cheese (thinly shaved-see blog notes)

In a large bowl add the salad dressing ingredients. Pour the mayonnaise, garlic paste, seasoning blend, parmesan, pepperoncini and red wine vinegar.

Stir until combined.

Next, pour in the shredded iceberg lettuce and using tongs, toss until the salad is thoroughly coated. Set aside until later use.

Grinder Salad

While the grinder salad marinates, prep the hoagie by preheating your toaster oven, oven or air fryer to 425 degrees.

Slice the hoagie roll through the middle.

Layer the sliced cheese, deli meats and toast for 8-10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and bread is toasted.

Take the sliced tomato and add on top of the baked deli meats.

Season tomatoes with a little salt and pepper.

Top the seasoned tomatoes with the grinder salad and additional grated parmesan.

Lastly, fold the top of the bread over the grinder sandwich, &quot;smush&quot; the sandwich (for good measure) and enjoy!

Italian Grinder &amp; Assembly

This Grinder Sandwich recipe went viral on TikTok last year, and for good reason. It’s loaded with various meats and cheeses and packed with flavor thanks to its signature creamy Grinder salad. This hearty sandwich is assembled atop a sliced Italian sandwich loaf with a spread of Calabrian chili paste and dressed up with slices of tomato, extra onion, and lots of freshly grated parmesan to take it over the top. Though it’s been popular for a while now, this Grinder Sandwich is still my obsession.

Grinder Sandwich

red wine vinegar

red pepper

garlic cloves

iceberg lettuce

pepperoncinis (sliced)

Kosher salt and pepper (to taste)

Italian loaves ((or you could use hoagie loaves))

Calabrian paste

Havarti cheese

Colby jack

salami

prosciutto

spicy pepperoni

Fresh parmesan

tomato

white onion

Kosher salt and black pepper

(to taste)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Add the red onion to a bowl, pour some cold water over it, and let it sit. This will take away some of the bitterness. Whisk the mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, oregano, red pepper, and garlic cloves. Add in the lettuce, onion, and pepperoncini, and give it a taste. Adjust the salt and pepper to taste.

Slice the bread in half and add Calabrian chili paste to both sides of the bread. Add the cheese to one of the halves. Add the meats to the other half. Transfer to the oven to bake for about 5 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the meat is warmed. Add the salad on top of the meat, along with a few slices of tomato, fresh onion, and parmesan cheese.

Slice in half and enjoy. #grindersandwich
