Yum Yum Sauce! just like the sauce from Japanese hibachi restaurants - and it's SO EASY. Perfect with grilled chicken, steak, veggies, rice bowls, wraps, and more.

5 Minute Yum Yum Sauce

mayonnaise

butter

tomato paste

sugar

all-purpose spice mix (garlic powder, paprika, etc.)

salt

water

Whisk all ingredients together until smooth. That&#8217;s it. You&#8217;re done. Rock on.

I remember in high school my friends and I came up with  a sauce like this to eat with pizza. I'll say this- it made school lunch a WHOLE lot better. lol!

Yeah it will completely change the flavor. Hellmans mayo is best. I wouldn't use non fat or low calorie either or any flavored. Those also change the taste.

You can absolutely use some yogurt. Specifically 2% Fage. I made this tonight with 3/4 cup Fage and 1/4 cup Hellman’s mayo and it was DELICIOUS. And I LOVE mayo. I can taste the difference between Hellman’s and other brands in restaurants, and I am not at all afraid to use straight mayo when it’s the best option. But I have found this base (1:3 ratio Hellman’s to Fage) works SO WELL in so many places that people insist on straight mayo. (I do the same base  for the white sauce that is served with Halal/Shwarma chicken and yellow rice at the street carts.).

Yes! Sometimes it is...unless you get the ginger dressing. But yum yum is delicious on literally EVERYTHING! Try it on your fried rice. It's mind blowing!!

I am the girl at the Japanese restaurant that says "two yum yum sauce please" and then ask for refills when they come back around 0_0  ^not weird at all.

I mad this but instead of tomato paste used sweet and spicy pepper paste and it came out well.

I've always loved yum yum sauce. You know what makes this even better??? Letting it sit for 48 hours in the fridge for all the ingredients to really sink in and then taking it out to get to room temperature.  I also found Himalayan pink sea salt gives it an even better flavor if you are fond of sea salt.  There are inky two recipes for yum yum sauce I have liked that I've found over the last 3 to 4 years. This is one of them. I do like how it can be used instantly with the flavor but it definitely makes a difference when it sits a couple days.

Keto Yum Yum Sauce

mayonnaise (try my recipe here)

ketchup

rice vinegar

salted butter, melted

sriracha, optional

garlic powder

onion powder

paprika

Combine all ingredients (minus the water) in a bowl and mix until well incorporated. Add water a teaspoon at a time until it has reached your desired consistency. 

I don't know how I've never made this before. I trusted your advice when you said it is good on everything, so I doubled the batch. I have indeed been putting it on EVERYTHING. I even mixed some in with your chili recipe instead of sour cream. GOOD!

Ginger Sauce (Japanese Steakhouse)

onion

ginger root ((use more or less depending on strength preference))

tamari ((highly recommended

lemon (1 1/2-2 tablespoons juice)

brown sugar ((optional))

Place everything in a blender and blend until smooth.  Store in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 5 days. Makes about 3/4 cup ginger sauce.

rice wine vinegar

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk together well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Yum Yum Sauce Recipe

tomato paste (or ketchup)*

butter (, melted)

sugar (less if you use ketchup)

Hot sauce (, cayenne, dried red pepper flakes, optional)

Combine Sauce

Combine mayonnaise, tomato paste, melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, water, sugar and hot sauce in a small food processor. Blend well.

Chill

For best results, allow sauce to chill and flavors to marry for at least 1 hour.

Serve

Cauliflower Fried Rice

Heat the griddle to 350°F and then heat the vegetable oil. When hot, add the chicken or beef, laying out into a flat layer. Flip when browned, about 2-3 minutes. For rarer beef, sear on all side, about 1-2 minutes.

When cooked to desired temperature, pile it together and then make a little well in the center. Add the butter, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger and garlic. Toss it together until the meat is fully coated.

Right before serving, spritz with fresh lemon juice and season with salt and pepper, if desired.

For the Hibachi Chicken:

Heat the griddle to 350°F and then heat the vegetable oil. When hot, add the seafood. Sear for 3-4 minute total. Do not overcook.

Pile in the center and add the butter and soy sauce, tossing to coat. Right before serving, spritz with lemon juice.

For the Hibachi Seafood:

Heat the griddle to 350°F and then heat the vegetable oil. When hot, add the zucchini and onion. Allow to brown on all sides, approximately 4-5 minutes.

Add the mushrooms and continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until mushrooms start to shrink.

Pile in the center and toss with butter and soy sauce. Spritz with lemon juice right before serving.
