Honey Baked Ham basted with a hint of pineapple juice and a buttery sticky glaze! Juicy and succulent on the inside with crispy, charred, sticky edges. The perfect baked ham recipe for your dinner table.

Honey Baked Ham

(4-5 kg) bone-in or boneless fully cooked ham

pineapple juice

honey

brown sugar

unsalted butter

cloves

Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and arrange a rack in the lower third. Remove any plastic packaging or netting from the ham. Trim away the rind and discard. Set the ham aside to rest at room temperature for 1-2 hours.

Line a baking tray or dish with several sheets of aluminium foil or parchment paper if you prefer (it will make cleanup a lot easier).&nbsp;

Remove the rind or skin of the ham (refer to steps in post), ensuring you leave the fat on. Using a sharp knife score a 1-inch-wide diamond pattern (don’t cut more than 1/4 inch deep) over the entire ham. Insert cloves into the centre of each diamond.

Place the ham in the baking tray; pour the pineapple juice into the base of the pan and cover the ham with two pieces of foil or parchment paper and bake for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, heat the butter in a small pot or saucepan over medium heat until golden browned. Add in the honey and brown sugar, stirring to combine until the brown sugar has completely dissolved, (about 2 minutes).&nbsp;

Reduce heat to low and let simmer to thicken slightly, then set aside and let cool to lukewarm (the glaze should be the consistency of room-temperature honey).

After 15 minutes baking time, carefully remove the ham from the oven and increase the oven temperature to 425°F | 220°C. Discard the foil or parchment paper and pour 1/3 of the glaze all over the ham, brushing in between the cuts to evenly cover. Return to the oven and&nbsp;bake uncovered for 15 minutes.

Remove from the oven, brush with another third of the glaze and some of the pan juices, and repeat again after 15 minutes more minutes of baking until a dark golden-brown crust has formed, (about 30 minutes total). For added depth of flavour, mix some of the ham pan juices together with the glaze in the pot which will help keep it runny enough for brushing.&nbsp;

If your crust is still pink after the suggested baking time, turn on your broiler (or oven grill), and allow it to broil for 2-5 minutes, while keeping an eye on it so it doesn't burn from the sugar.&nbsp;

Let the ham rest 10-15 minutes before slicing.

Instant Pot Honey Baked Ham

Prepare Instant Pot

Place trivet inside the inner pot of pressure cooker. Pour in 1 and 1/2 cups cold water. Place oil sling on trivet–this will help you remove ham after it has finished cooking.

Prepare Glaze

Prepare glaze by whisking together pineapple juice, honey and brown sugar.

Prepare Ham

Place ham on large sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil.&nbsp;Fold up sides of foil, to make a bowl like shape around the ham.&nbsp;Gently separate slices of spiral ham, so glaze can penetrate the ham slices.&nbsp;Pour glaze over ham and securely wrap foil around ham. Place ham on trivet inside pressure cooker.&nbsp;Secure foil sling around ham, if using.

Pressure Cook

Pressure Cook on High for 2 minutes per pound plus 10 minutes to account for the foil. (Only add 5 minutes if using thin foil.) Once cook time has elapsed, let rest for at least 15 minutes. Check the internal temperature to be sure the ham is warmed to 135-150 degrees. If not, cook for an additional 3-5 minutes on high pressure.

Remove

After pressure is released, remove your ham from the Instant Pot and place on a large platter or bowl, still sealed in the foil. Remove trivet from inside pressure cooker and pour out the water used to cook the honey baked ham. Place the inner pot back inside the pressure cooker and turn the pressure cooker to Saute.

Simmer

Gently peel back the foil slightly from the cooked Ham. Remove the Ham from the foil, leaving the liquid inside the foil packet. Pour the rendered cooking liquid into the pressure cooker.

Thicken

Mix together 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 1/4 cup water and whisk into cooking liquid.  Whisk liquid constantly until thickened and reduced--about 3-5 minutes. Pour over sliced ham.

If using a ham that won't fit on the trivet, add ham directly to pressure cooker. Then add in 1.5 cups of pineapple juice. Cook for 2 minutes per pound if sliced, 3 minutes per pound if unsliced. Let pressure release naturally. Remove ham from Instant Pot. Turn to saute. Add in 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup maple syrup and whisk well. Mix together 1/4 cup water with 1 tablespoon cornstarch and then add to Instant Pot. Let saute for 3-5 minutes or until thick and bubbly. Serve over the ham.

No More Dried Out Ham: Instant Pot Honey Baked Ham

This is a homestyle Honey Baked Ham, rich with savory sweetness of ham mixed with honey. The sauce is more of an au jus, rather than a gravy. See notes if you want a thick sauce. Spoon plenty of it over the slices of ham, and watch it disappear! Great for holidays.

Fully cooked, spiral-sliced ham (4-5 lbs)

whole grain mustard (prepared mustard jar with whole mustard seeds)

Heat oven to 350F with rack on lower position.

Mix together apple cider, brown sugar, mustard, and honey in a bowl. Mix well to fully incorporate basting sauce.

Place ham in a 13&#215;9 baking dish. Coat ham with a generous amount of sauce. Bake for 60-70 minutes, basting thoroughly every 15 minutes.

To serve pre-cut slices, arrange slices neatly on a serving dish and brush leftover sauce all over ham slices and serve. If serving ham whole, be sure to have leftover sauce available for drizzling. The sauce is what makes this ham so great!

Preheat oven to 250°F.

Remove the packaging and the plastic disk from the bottom of the ham. Place ham in a shallow roasting pan, cut side down.

Bake for 13-16 minutes per pound until ham reaches 135°F.

Combine glaze ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.

Once the ham reaches 135°F, remove it from the oven. Turn the oven up to 425°F. Brush the ham generously with the honey glaze. (I do 2-3 coats of glaze).

Return to the oven for 15-20 minutes or until ham reaches 140°F and glaze is browned.

Remove the ham from the oven and rest at least 15 minutes before cutting. Spoon juices over the ham before serving if desired.

Prep

Preheat the oven to 325º Fahrenheit and place the oven rack in the lower 1/3 part of the oven. Cover a roasting pan or rimmed baking sheet with foil and coat the metal wire rack insert with cooking spray. Remove the ham from it&#39;s package. If using bone in ham, remove the plastic cap that&#39;s over the bone. Place the ham flat-side down on the roasting rack

Make Butter Honey Coating

In a small bowl combine the melted butter and the honey. Pat the ham dry with paper towels. Using a pastry brush (or with your hands), slather or massage the mixture all over the outside of the ham and in between the slices. If any of the honey glaze lands at the bottom of the roasting pan, you can scoop it up and slather it on the ham.

Bake

Add about a cup of water to the bottom of the roasting pan or rimmed baking sheet. This will create a moist environment in the oven so you end up with a juicy ham. Bake covered for about 2.5 hours (about 20 minutes per pound of ham) or until an instant-read thermometer registers 140º Fahrenheit when inserted into the thickest part of the ham. Remove ham from the oven and tented with aluminum foil to keep it warm

Mix Spice Sugar Coating

Combine the spice sugar mixture in a small bowl. Uncover the ham. If the edges are dry, baste the ham with the pan juices then, pat half of the spice sugar mixture (about 3/4 cup) all over the surface of the ham. Alternatively, you can place the sugar mixture on a sheet pan and then roll the ham through the sugar mixture until nicely coated.

Broil

Return the ham to the oven and broil until caramelized and bubbly. You can also use a blow torch if preferred.

Make glaze

In a small saucepan, combine the remaining sugar mixture with about 1/3 cup of ham drippings (pan juices) or water (or a combination of both). Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat and cook until it reaches a glaze consistency, about 2 minutes.

Glaze and broil

Pour or brush the glaze over the ham. Broil for 1-2 minutes or until bubbly. Keep an eye on it as it can burn quickly.

Rest and serve

Remove from the oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes. Serve warm or cold.

Take your spiral ham to the next level with this Honey Baked Ham Recipe. It is delicious and easy to make with simple ingredients.

Spiral Sliced Ham

Tablespoons Butter (melted)

Honey

Dijon Mustard

Sugar

Cinnamon

Nutmeg

Ground Ginger

Allspice

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

Unwrap the ham and discard any glaze or seasoning packets that came with the ham.

Place the ham flat side down in a roasting pan lined with foil.

In a small saucepan, add the butter, honey, dijon mustard, sugar and seasonings.  Heat on low heat and stir until the sugar is just dissolved (you do not need to bring it to a boil).

Baste the ham with approximately 1/3 of the mixture and try to get into the slices of the ham if possible. Add approximately 1 cup of water to the bottom of the roasting pan.

Cover the ham loosely with foil.  Bake for 2 hours and 40 minutes (20 minutes per pound) until the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

Baste the ham again halfway in the cooking time with approximately 1/3 of the mixture.

Remove the ham from the oven and switch the oven to the broil setting.  Remove the foil from the ham and baste the ham with the remaining glaze.

Place the uncovered ham back in the oven and broil it for a few minutes until the glaze starts to caramelize (watch it closely).

Remove from the oven.  Let the ham rest for 5 minutes and then it’s ready to slice, serve and enjoy!

Thaw

Thaw the ham. If the ham is frozen, allow it to thaw in the fridge for 1 to 2 days. Then, remove the ham from the fridge and let it rest on the counter for 2 hours before cooking, to come to room temperature.

Pour

Prep the roasting pan. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Adjust oven rack to lowest position. Pour 2 cups of water into bottom of roasting pan.

Mix the honey glaze. In a medium bowl, stir together the sugar, honey, orange juice, mustard, and spices.

Brush

Brush on the glaze and bake the ham. Place the ham on the baking tray, brush ¼ of the honey glaze on top, then cover the ham with aluminum foil and bake for 10 to 12 minutes per pound (for a 9 pound ham, that&#39;s about 1 ½ hours). During this 1 ½ hours you&#39;ll re-glaze every 30 minutes.

Caramelize

Caramelize the glaze. After 1 ½ hours, increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C), discard the aluminum foil, and brush the remaining ¼ of the glaze all over the ham. Return the ham to the oven and bake uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes, until shiny, glazed, and slightly caramelized.

Slice

Slice the ham. Let the ham rest for a few minutes before serving, then slice it up by removing the spiral slices from the flat, wider end first.

It was so good! The ham became so tender! My whole family loved it! I forgot the sugar by mistake, so the sauce was more on the liquid side but the sweetness level was perfect. So when I make it again, I would put less sugar than the recipe ask for.

HONEY BAKED HAM | how to cook the BEST holiday ham for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas

This baked Ham recipe makes the most juicy, savory, and BEST ham! Easy variations for copycat Honey Baked Ham recipe or a cola glazed ham!

Best Baked Ham Recipe

(8-pound) fully cooked, spiral-sliced ham

Stone House Seasoning

(12-ounce) can Coca-Cola (not Diet Coke)

brown sugar (firmly packed)

Prep. Preheat oven to 325º F. Place ham in a roasting pan.

Bake. Cover your ham well with foil and bake for 10 to 18 minutes per pound until the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140º F when checked with an instant-read thermometer. You will occasionally remove the foil to baste the ham with the drippings from the bottom of the roasting pan. (See the glaze variations below for custom instructions)

Rest. Allow the baked ham to rest for 5 to 10 minutes after removing it from the oven. Remove the ham from the roasting pan and onto a platter for serving.

Prep. Arrange the oven rack in the middle of the oven and preheat your oven to 325º F. Place your spiral-sliced ham into a roasting pan. Combine the melted butter and honey and brush onto the ham.

Bake. Cover your ham well with foil and bake for 10 to 18 minutes per pound until the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140º F when checked with an instant-read thermometer. You will occasionally remove the foil to baste the ham with the drippings from the bottom of the roasting pan.

Make the Glaze. Mix together the sugar and all of the seasonings to make the glaze. With about 10 minutes left of baking time, add half of the seasoning to a small saucepan with 3 tablespoons of water. Boil for a minute and then remove from the heat.

Coat and Broil. During the last 5 minutes of baking, remove the ham from the oven and remove the foil. Pat the remaining sugar mixture onto the top of the ham. Turn the oven to broil. Broil for several minutes until the sugar mixture is bubbly. Remove from the oven.

Glaze and Broil. Pour the glaze over the ham and broil for another minute. Watch carefully so that it does not burn.

Bake. Combine Coca-Cola and brown sugar and pour over ham. Cover tightly with aluminum foil. Every 30 minutes, uncover the ham and baste well with the pan juices and then recover the ham. Bake 10 to 18 minutes per pound, until the tam registers 140º F when checked with an instant-read thermometer. Remove the foil for the last 10 minutes of cooking time so that after the final glaze, the glaze is able to caramelize on the ham
