One of my favorite childhood drinks from Japan is Cream Soda, a delicious melon flavored soda drink with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Japanese Cream Soda

Tbsp melon syrup

ice cubes

club soda

vanilla ice cream

maraschino cherries ((optional))

Gather all the ingredients.

Put ice cubes into the glass and add 3 Tbsp melon syrup.

Add ¾ cup (180 ml) club soda.

Mix well with a spoon.

Top with vanilla ice cream.

Garnish with a cherry.

This Boozy Creamsicle Float is the ultimate Summer cocktail! The classic orange and vanilla cream combination with a kick. Such a big hit for Summer gatherings!

Boozy Creamsicle Float

orange soda ((1/2 cup))

vodka ((whipped cream flavored))

Add whipped cream vodka to the bottom of your glass and spoon in two scoops of vanilla ice cream.

Pour the orange soda on top filling the glass.

A fiery cinnamon ice cream, homemade with candied ginger, gets a bubbly upgrade in this grown-up root beer float.  Its the perfect chilly-weather treat.

Red Hot Jawbreaker

cinnamon

(473 ml) whipping cream

salt

(237 ml) milk

(178 ml) sugar

tbsp more or less finely chopped candied ginger

Crush cinnamon sticks using a mortar and pestle or a plastic bag and hammer.

In a pot, combine the crushed cinnamon, cream, salt, milk, and sugar.

Once hot and well mixed, remove from heat and cover.

After steeping, add another cup of whipping cream and mix well.

Strain out the cinnamon pieces and refrigerate the mixture.

Once cold, churn the mixture in an ice cream maker for 20 minutes.

While churning, chop the candied ginger into bits.

After 20 minutes, add the candied ginger, ensuring even distribution.

Churn for another 5 minutes, or until firm.

Scoop the ice cream into a container and freeze until needed.

For serving: Pour root beer over the ice cream for a foamy effect and top with a Red Hot Jawbreaker.

Made the cinnamon ice cream Saturday afternoon and floated it in a glass of Boylan after dinner, delicious adult version of a kid drink.

I steeped the cinnamon sticks for a full hour like you said and got a real cinnamon warmth that store-bought never delivers. Crushed candied ginger in at the end. Drowned a scoop in Sprecher root beer on a Sunday night with a Red Hot Jawbreaker bobbing on top. Adults-only dessert that gets spicier the more you drink.

Started the ice cream at 11am, churned it during my sons football game, ate two of these on the porch by 5pm. Used MUG since that is what the corner store carried. Sat with one as the Jawbreaker dissolved and the heat built. Thanks for a great dessert.
