This Chicken Jhalfrezi recipe is an air fryer take on a delicious traditional Indian Jhalfrezi recipe. It's gluten free&nbsp;and low carb friendly!

In  a  large  bowl,  mix  together  Chicken,  onions,  peppers,  oil,  salt,  turmeric,  garam  masala  and  cayenne.&nbsp;

Place  the  chicken  and  vegetables  in  the  air  fryer  basket.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Set  the  air  fryer  for  360F  for  15  minutes.  Stir  and  toss  half  way  through  the  cooking  time.

Meanwhile,  make  the  sauce:  In  a  small  microwave  safe  bowl,  combine  tomato  sauce,  water,  garam  masala,  salt,  and  cayenne.

Microwave  for  1  minute.  Remove  and  stir.  Microwave  for  another  minute.  Set  aside.

Once  the  chicken  is  cooked,  remove  and  place  chicken  and  vegetables  in  a  large  bowl.  Pour  the  prepared  sauce  over  them,  and  toss  to  cover  the  chicken  and  vegetables  evenly  with  the  sauce.  Serve  with  rice,  naan,  or  a  side  salad.&nbsp;

Creamy Coconut Chicken Curry

coconut oil

1 head of garlic, chopped (10–12 cloves)

chicken breasts, chopped into bite-sized pieces

tomatoes

sea salt

coconut milk

cherry tomatoes, cut in half

cup chopped cilantro

Heat the coconut oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook until it softens, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and ginger to the pan and cook for 1 minute. Add the cumin, coriander, turmeric, and, if using, the cayenne and cook for 1 minute.

Add the chicken, crushed tomatoes, and sea salt to the pan and stir well. Bring to a simmer then cover and reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer for 15 minutes, carefully removing the lid (the curry will splatter!) to stir a few times.

Once the chicken pieces are cooked, stir in the coconut milk, cherry tomatoes, and cilantro. Season to taste with more salt, as needed.

I'm wondering if you meant 3 whole chicken breasts or 3 halves? Could you maybe tell us the weight?  I've made your lentil version and LOVED it.  I really appreciate how you give lots of options with your recipes... as in different veggies/proteins.

the curry was pretty good, however I think that next time I make it, I'll use fresh roma tomatoes instead of canned tomatoes, and half the coconut milk to cut down on the saturated fat, and add some unsweetened coconut flakes to it.  If its a little dry, I can add water or coconut water.  It won't be a creamy,  but I think it will still be good.  We also added peas so it would be a one pan meal.

Very simple to make super yum curry with ingredients that are all handy. Loved it!

There is one ingredient missing in the list of spices. CURRY!!!! I added 2 tablespoons of curry and a half teaspoon of cinnamin . otherwise, easy and yum.

This was FABULOUS!! I made the mistake, tho, of buying a can of diced tomatoes instead of crushed, which aren’t as viscous and have more ‘juice’. This made the curry a bit soupier than normal. So to add some body to the gravy, I mashed a can of chickpeas smooth with a little olive oil, and stirred them in at the end. Perfect fix!!! I’ll definitely be adding this recipe to my staples!!

My only comment would be that while cooking for another minute after adding the spices, the mixture gets quite dry and is prone to burning. More oil?

I love the fact that you used separate spices instead of just curry powder! It was perfect so tonight I’m making it with fresh Roma tomatoes, carrots, chicken thighs and shrimp!  And maybe some chickpeas. Can’t wait; I’m already salivating! 

Loved the flavor but my sauce came out really soupy and nothing like the picture.  I'm pretty sure I followed the recipe exactly. Any ideas why the difference? I ended up simmering it longer and adding coconut flour to try to get it to the right consistency but still wasn't there.

Simple to construct. I have just made the sauce ahead as I’m using cooked chicken and I will add reheat an serve. The sauce tastes amazing. 

Tried this one the get my kids into curry. I left the cayenne pepper out until nearly the end, after I'd separated theirs out.  They both loved it, I was pretty impressed too :-)

Great recipe!!  We are using this in our restaurant in Japan and our customers love this curry! We added Cardamon seeds, Cinnamon, Star Anise,  and yogurt. We also increased the coconut. We removed the chicken so the recipe is vegetarian. We're doing this recipe only 1 time per week for about 40-liter batches. We put into single-serving vacuum-sealed pouches and store in the freezer until someone orders the dish. One suggestion is to change EVERYTHING to grams. It is very difficult to follow this recipe without converting everything into grams.

Loved it! Left my boned skinless chicken breasts whole so I would know how many I had eaten! I also served with Major Grey"s Chutney and shredded coconut.  Very easy and delicious!

Based on the exact quantities this is very runny and more soup like than the thicker curry sauce as pictured. 
It says 1 x 28 ounce tin which works out to 790g (ish ) so thats, so i used 2 x 400g tins. I think the recipe should read just 1 x 400g tin of toms. I'll try this next time and im sure that would sort the consistency out. 
I see others commented about the runtiness of the sauce too.

I used the exact recipe and also made this with ONE tin (half the recipe amount) of chopped tomatoes and preferred the reduced tomato flavour and the more intense spice and creamy coconut flavour! My husband declared this one of the best curries he’s ever tasted and I can assure you he’s had a few!! It’s a brilliantly easy and fail safe recipe. I’ve made this curry several times swapping in vegetables in place of the chicken and it works so well. It’s an easy recipe you can ‘play’ around with but is oh so tasty. My husband declared it the best he’s had and believe me he’s had many, many curries in his life!

Creamy Coconut Chicken Curry 

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tikka Masala from Delish.com is low-maintenance and packed with flavor.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tikka Masala

chicken

c. plain Greek yogurt

coriander (optional)

Kosher salt

black pepper

onion, chopped

garlic,

tbsp. ginger

turmeric

cumin

paprika

tsp. garam masala

cayenne pepper

heavy cream

cilantro,

Rice

In the bowl of slow cooker, combine chicken, yogurt, and coriander; season with salt and pepper. Let marinate 15 minutes.

Stir in onion, garlic, ginger, and spices, then add tomatoes. Cover and cook until chicken is cooked through, on high for 4 hours or on low for 8 hours.&nbsp;

Just made this and it was delicious! so easy, i already had all the spices, and healthy! Great quarantine meal for my girlfriend and i. only change was we used more yogurt to offset some of the tomato and thicken the sauce, but to each his own! yum!

This was easy to make! I did use chicken thighs and cut the fat off and then cut them in 1/2.  I doubled the recipe except for the can of crushed tomatoes. I did sear the chicken on each side first before putting it in the cooker, and also sautéed the onions prior. I also didn't  want to wait the full 4 hours to serve it, so I turned it off at 3.5 hours, checked the chicken, and it was done!

Not bad. It was pretty spicy, which I don't mind. Used sour cream instead of yogurt since that's what I had. Then added some chicken bullion instead of salt because I find it adds more flavor. Also added 4 tbs brown sugar and it really helped the initial bitterness.

Does not taste like chicken tikka, or anything else tasty.

I used coconut milk instead of heavy cream, but otherwise stuck to the recipe. It came out delicious, but mine needed a little cornstarch to thicken up. If you're using quality spices you shouldn't have any problems with it being bland... I'd add a bit more cayenne for a kick, though, as it was quite mild (but flavorful).

I made this recently and loved the flavors! It was better the day after. I’m making it again! I’ll probably add a bit more cream for more sauce. Yum!

Used boneless chicken breast and the chicken came out unflavorful and tasted like it was boiled. Sauce had good spice heat, but was fairly bland otherwise. Not sure I’ll make it again. The hunt continues.

Add chicken, onion, and next 7 ingredients to a large skillet or pan. Saute over medium heat 6-8 minutes until chicken is cooked through.

Slow Cooker Chicken Curry

Onions (finely chopped)

Garlic (minced)

7-8 Baby Potatoes (cut into half (or 2 large potatoes, diced into 1 inch pieces))

Chicken Thighs (skinless and boneless, cut into 1 inch pieces)

Cloves

6-8 Peppercorns (whole)

Green Chilli (finely chopped (or Serrano Pepper))

Coriander Powder

Red Chilli Powder (or chilli flakes)

Turmeric Powder

Garam Masala Powder

Salt

Tomato Puree

Butter

Heat oil in a pan and add chopped onions and minced garlic. Saute for 3-4 minutes till the onions soften. Transfer this mixture to the slow cooker along with all the other ingredients. Mix well.

Cover and cook on high for 3.5-4 hours or low for 6 hours. Once the chicken curry is cooked, mix in the chopped coriander and serve hot on top of steamed rice or with some butter naan.

Love this recipe. I’ve made it a few times now and it’s delicious. Last time I made it I had everything (I thought) ready to go when I realised I had no potatoes. I put it 3 desert spoons red lentils and oh my word!!! Family favourite definitely.

I have done this recipe many times.  I love how simple it is and the flavour is amazing.  The only change I make is that I put chopped corriander stalks in the pot too.  I love it.

Chicken Tikka Masala Meal Prep

1kg (2.2lb) - Chicken Thigh, Boneless & Skinless, Diced

Garlic Cloves, Grated

(0.3 ounces) - Ginger, Grated

tsp (8 grams) - Kashmiri Chilli Powder

Lemon, Juiced

Salt & Cracked Black Pepper

Tbsp (28 grams) - Ghee (Clarified Butter)

Brown (Yellow) Onion, Sliced

Red Capsicum (Bell Pepper), Sliced

Garlic Cloves, Chopped

(0.3 ounces) - Ginger, Julienned

½ Tbsp (15 grams) - Garam Masala

Tbsp (10 grams) - Whole Cumin Seeds

tsp (4 grams) - Kashmiri Chilli Powder

(10.5 ounces) - Tomato Paste

Paprika

(5.5 ounces)

Chicken Stock

(7fl oz) Thickened Cream

Marinade Chicken

Combine the chicken with all the marinade ingredients in a large bowl, stirring to mix and coat well. Cover the bowl, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and up to 48 hours.

Sear Chicken

Place a pan over high heat. Add a splash of spray oil and sear the chicken for 2 ½ minutes on each side or until golden. Do this in batches to prevent steaming the chicken. The chicken will not be cooked at this point. This step is for colour. Remove from the heat and set aside.

Fry Vegetables

Heat the ghee in a large pot over medium-high heat for the sauce, then add the onion and capsicum. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 6 minutes until softened, then add the garlic and ginger and cook, stirring regularly, for 1 minute or until fragrant.

Toast Spices

Add the spices and cook for 1 minute, stirring well to allow those flavours to become friends. Add the tomato paste and cook for 4 minutes or until the oil separates.

Curry Gravy

Add the chicken pieces, the reserved marinade, and the yoghurt to the sauce, then cook for 2 minutes at a gentle simmer to combine the ingredients. Add the stock, bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 25 minutes, or until a thick, deep red gravy has formed and the sauce coats a spoon. Feel free to add a splash of chicken stock if the sauce reduces and thickens too much. Season to taste.

Cook Rice

Place the rice, water, and ground turmeric in a saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover with a lid, and cook for 12 minutes. Turn off the heat and leave the lid on for 4 minutes. Remove the lid, add coriander (cilantro), and mix well. 

Sefve

Add the cream and most of the chopped coriander. Stir through and cook for 2 minutes to heat through. Remove the chicken tikka masala from the heat and sprinkle with the remaining coriander. Serve the curry and rice in 5x 750ml meal prep containers. Dig in.
