Simple Syrup Basic Recipe

Gather the ingredients

Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and heat over medium-high heat until sugar completely dissolves (avoid boiling).

Remove from heat and allow syrup to cool to room temperature.

Pour into a glass container for use in your favorite drink recipe or for storage. The syrup will keep in the fridge for up to one month.

Very easy to prepare, cannabis infusions have the advantage that the effects are much softer and last between 30 and 90 minutes. Today, we explain how to prepare them, their properties and effects.

How to Make Marijuana Infusion

Marijuana: about 0.2 grams

1-crumble the cannabis as small as possible. You can do this manually or use a grinder. Then add the water and butter to heat over low heat. When it starts to boil, extinguish the fire.

2-Take a regular cup of tea with its sieve and add the crushed cannabis to the sieve and pour the water with the butter on top. Cover and let stand for 3 to 5 minutes.

3-In a second option, we will prepare an infusion of cannabis with milk. If the first one seemed easy, this one will be even easier. The first step is the same, in the second, instead of heating the water, put the milk and once it starts to boil, pour it on the marijuana you will have in the infuser tea cup.

There are many ways you can make Pimento or Allspice Dram at home, from heating liquids to blending or macerating, playing with the flavor balance through adding other spices and ingredients, or simply using different types of rum.For this recipe we’ve gone for a split rum base - the 151 extracts the oils more aggressively than a standard proof, whilst the aged rum mellows the blend slightly, taking away some of the overproof rum’s harshness. This will also happen over time, with the profile becoming more balanced after a few months of ageing (to be honest the longer it sits once bottled the better it gets!).We’ve kept the spices simple by only using Allspice. A 10-day infusion means we get ALL those lovely mixed notes coming through, giving you a good baseline to start from.And to bring a subtle layer of molasses to the mix we’ve gone for demerara sugar rather than white. But feel free to use whatever you have available.

Homemade Allspice Dram

Allspice Berries (approx 25 grams)

151 Overproof Rum (approx 236 ml) (a demerara is perfect)

Appleton 12 year old Rum (approx 60 ml)

Water (approx 354 ml)

Lightly toast the allspice berries&nbsp;until they start releasing their aroma. Do not burn them! Allow to cool then crush them into a rough powder.

Combine the allspice with the rums&nbsp;in a sterilized airtight jar and let the mixture steep for 10-days in a cool dry spot away from daylight. Give it a good shake daily.

Strain the spiced rum mixture through triple layered cheesecloth (or muslin) into a jug. Give it a squeeze at the end to get all the liquid out. If the liquid is still cloudy, restrain through a wettened coffee filter. Don't be tempted to taste it, it'll numb your tongue and make your face go 'gnnnngghh' 🤤

Make a simple syrup (1:1 ratio) by adding your sugar and water to a saucepan over a medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the liquid is clear once more (about 5 mins). Remove from the heat and allow to cool.

Combine your spiced rum infusion with the simple syrup in a sterilised glass bottle with an airtight seal. Give it a good shake to mix it all up.

Now, the hard bit...&nbsp;leave for around a month in a cool, dark place. During this time the flavors will blend and mellow nicely, producing a far more balanced profile.

Once the recipient has infused their favorite spirits, each kit will produce enough flavored alcohol to make 8-10 signature cocktails.

Craft Cocktail Kits for Gifting

Layer the ingredients for the desired cocktail kit into a 12-ounce glass jar, placing smaller ingredients on the bottom and layering in larger ingredients like dried citrus wheels.

Seal the jar and the cocktail kit is ready for gifting. It will keep stored, sealed tightly for at least 4-6 weeks.

To make any of the Craft Cocktail Kits

For the Fruitcake and Lavender Lemonade Craft Cocktail Kit simply add 10 ounces of the desired type of alcohol into the glass jar along with the flavoring components. All of the ingredients should be submerged.

Refrigerate for 3-5 days. Shake well, then strain.The lavender lemonade infusion will happen much quicker than the Fruitcake. Dried lavender is a potent edible flower that can easily overpower a dish. We recommend to begin tasting this infusion at the 24 hr mark.

The flavor components can be used again to infuse another batch of alcohol if desired or can be discarded at this point.

Each Cocktail Kit makes enough infused Fruitcake or Lavender Lemon flavored alcohol to make up to 8 cocktails of your choice.

When ready to infuse alcohol with the cocktail kits:

Add the sugar cubes from the Craft Cocktail Kit jar in a saucepan along with 3/4 cup water over medium heat. Stir periodically until the sugar dissolves.

Lower the heat and add all of the remaining ingredients from the jar to the pot. Bring back to a simmer and simmer for 1-2 minutes.

Add one bottle of California red wine and stir to combine. Heat over very low heat for 10-15 minutes. Make sure not to boil or even allow this to bubble once the wine has been added. You are just looking for a nice warm heat where you can see the steam rising from the pan, but there is no disruption to the liquid.
