This part is a jab at Vodka "snobs", Luksusowa Vodka is the best right now, in my humble opinion.

It's Polish potato vodka, not in the tradition of fine Soviet Stolichnaya, which has a place of it's own.

Hi Kate! I love your cookbook. After buying mine and sharing the recipes, I bought two more for my friend and mom. I know they'll love it! I also wanted to share that it is still OK to drink out of uncoated copper mugs- there is a lot of chemical-phobic talk going around, but such a small amount of copper dissolves in your drink, even if it you keep it in the mug a few hours!

Surprised you didn’t mention Barritts Ginger beer to me that one stands out from the rest. Also the Gin Mule with Hendrick’s Gin is amazing. I actually prefer it over the Tito’s Mule.

Why have a Moscow mule or Kentucky mule when you can have a...watermelon mule? This unique spin on the classic cocktail is light and refreshing.

Watermelon Mule

Make the watermelon juice

To make 1 cup watermelon juice, add 2 cups cubed watermelon to a blender and blend until a juice forms. Then pour the juice through a fine mesh strainer into a clean container. This will make enough for 3 drinks, so multiply as desired!

In a copper mug or glass, pour in the watermelon juice, vodka, lime juice, and ginger beer.

The traditional Moscow mule gets a spicy twist with tequila and sliced jalapeño in this Mexican Mule. Homemade ginger beer really turns up the wow factor (plus it's easier than you think)!

Mexican Mule

oz tequila blanco

oz Cointreau ((orange liqueur))

oz lime juice

oz ginger beer

Lime wedges and jalapeño slices for garnish

water

light brown sugar, (packed)

sugar

oz fresh ginger, (peeled and minced)

salt

lemon juice

active dry yeast

Fill a copper mug or tumbler with ice. Pour in tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, and cold ginger beer. Stir and garnish with lime wedge and jalapeño slices.

In a large saucepan combine 1 qt water, sugars, ginger and a pinch of salt.

Bring to a boil and stir until sugars are dissolved. Remove from heat and pour in remaining 1 qt of water and lemon juice.

Let stand, covered, at room for 2-3 hours.&nbsp;Place in refrigerator and cool to 70 degrees.

Use a fine mesh strainer to strain and stir in yeast.

Use a funnel to pour into a 2 liter bottle or into 2 - 1 liter bottles. Make sure you leave at least 2 inches of room at the top.

Leave at room temperature for 2-3 days, loosening the cap occasionally (very slowly and carefully so it doesn't spray all over) to release the pressure.

Store in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Place mint leaves in glass. Using the back of a wooden spoon or muddler, muddle (crush) the mint leaves.

Fill glass up 3/4 full with ice. Pour in lime juice, whiskey and ginger beer.

Stir to combine. Serve with slice of lime and mint leaves.
