You can make light and fluffy breadsticks, as good as Olive Garden&#039;s, right from your own kitchen! They&#039;re are easy to make, soft and fluffy!

Easy Homemade Breadsticks

water

active dry yeast

Tablespoons sugar

all-purpose flour

salt

Tablespoons oil ((vegetable or canola oil), or melted butter)

Add warm water, yeast and sugar to the bowl of a stand mixer and stir gently. Rest for 5 minutes. The yeast should lightly foam on top. If it doesn&#039;t, the yeast may not be fresh. (If using Instant Yeast, skip this step and add the yeast, water and sugar with the rest of the ingredients).

Add 1 1/2 cups flour, salt and vegetable oil and mix on medium speed, to combine.

Add another 1 1/2 cups flour. The dough should pull away from the sides of the bowl but still be very slightly sticky to the touch. Add remaining 1/4 cup of flour, only if needed. Knead mixture for 5-7 minutes. 

Transfer dough to a large, greased bowl and cover tightly with plastic wrap. Allow to rest until double in size, about 1.5 hours.

Once risen, punch dough down and divide it into 12 equal parts. Roll each piece of dough into a 9 inch rope and transfer to a greased cookie sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise again for 1 hour.

Bake breadsticks at 425 degrees F for 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven, brush tops with butter and transfer to a wire cooling rack.

Serve warm. Store in a airtight container, or in the freezer.

Olive Garden Breadsticks

Combine warm water, sugar, oil, and yeast in a large bowl of a mixer or a food processor. Add 4 1/2 cups of flour and salt and process until the dough forms a nice uniform ball. Place dough in a bowl that has been sprayed with nonstick spray.  

Cover the bowl with a towel and allow to rise in a warm place. When the dough has doubled in size (this should take about an hour) place dough on a well-floured board and roll out the dough. Roll out dough into a large rectangle. Cut in half horizontally, and then cut vertical strips of dough about 1 1/2 inches thick.

Roll the strips of dough into logs. Place dough logs on a greased baking sheet, and allow them to rise until they have doubled in size (this should take about 45 minutes). You should get between 20 and 24 breadsticks from this recipe. Melt butter, and stir in Parmesan cheese garlic powder, and oregano.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Just before baking the breadsticks, brush them with the melted butter mixture. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Brush any leftover butter topping on these just before serving.

How to make Olive Garden Bread Sticks

Just like the originals, these copycat Olive Garden breadsticks are light and airy on the inside, and flavored with butter and garlic salt on the outside. You can never eat just one!

Olive Garden Breadstick Recipe

and 2 Tbsp warm water

yeast

tbsp sugar

tsp salt

tbsp oil

flour

butter

tsp garlic salt

In a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water. Let sit 5-10 minutes, or until foamy. Add the salt, oil, and two cups of flour, and mix until combined. Add additional flour, ¼ cup at a time, until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and is soft and only slightly sticky to the touch.

Knead the dough until smooth, sprinkling with flour as needed to make the dough manageable. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and let rise one hour, or until doubled.

After the dough has rise, punch it down gently and divide it into 12 equal sized balls. Roll each ball out into a nine inch rope, and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment or a silicone liner. Repeat with remaining dough, using two baking sheets. Cover and let rise one hour.

During the last ten minutes of rise time, preheat the oven to 425. Bake 12-14 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and brush with melted butter, then sprinkle with garlic salt. Serve warm.

Copycat Breadsticks

These copycat Olive Garden Breadsticks are insanely delicious! Fresh, buttery, and garlicky you can still have unlimited breadsticks, only these taste better!

Copycat Olive Garden Breadsticks

Cup warm water

Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive oil

½ Cups Flour

Tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)

parsley (chopped, optional)

Mix water, yeast, and sugar in bowl or mixer. Let stand for 5 minutes until frothy.

Add olive oil, salt and flour. Mix with the dough hook for 6-8 minutes on medium low speed until smooth. Transfer to an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap sprayed with cooking spray. Let rise until doubled in size, about an hour.

Preheat oven to 425.

Punch down and turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Cut into 12 even portions, about 2 oz each. Roll out into 8-9 inch logs and set on baking sheet. Let rest for 10-15 minutes.

While dough is resting, mix together the garlic butter: melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and parsley.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown. Brush immediately with garlic butter.

Soft Garlic Breadsticks

yeast (1/4 ounce or 21/4 teaspoons)

sugar (divided use)

all- purpose flour (about 3 to 3 1/2 cups)

garlic powder (or

oregano (optional)

Melt the butter. Set aside to let cool to at least 110°F.

Add 1/2 cup of the warm water, the packet of yeast, and 1 teaspoon of the sugar together in a small bowl. Whisk to blend and set aside about 5 minutes or until foamy.

Pour the yeast mixture into a large bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment.

Add the remaining water, sugar, and about 1 1/2 cups of the flour.

Beat on medium speed until the mixture forms a smooth batter.

Add the cooled melted butter, the remaining salt, and about a cup more of the flour.

Continue to beat on low speed until a soft, sticky dough is formed. Switch to the dough hook.

On low speed add a little of the remaining flour and knead with the dough hook, adding more flour, until the dough is smooth and elastic (see tips). You may need a bit more flour than called for in the recipe - especially if you used cup measure rather than weighing it.

Form the dough into a smooth ball.

Butter a large bowl and transfer the dough to it. Turn the ball of dough over so it is buttered on all sides.

Cover with plastic wrap or a clean tea towel and set in a warm place to rise until doubled. This will take an hour to an hour and a half.

You can stop at this point, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight. Begin again about 1 hour before dinner to have fresh breadsticks with dinner.

After the dough has risen punch it down.

I like to weigh it and divide into 12 equal pieces.

Let the pieces rest about 10 minutes - it makes them easier to roll.

Roll each piece into an 8-10 inch rope and place them on a parchment covered cookie sheet.

Lightly brush with melted butter.

Cover with plastic wrap or a clean tea towel and let rise in a warm place until almost doubled - 30 minutes to an hour.

Shaping

Melt the remaining butter.

Mix the salt, garlic powder, and oregano in a small bowl and set aside.

Preheat the oven to 400°F.

Brush the breadsticks with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder mixture.

Place in the oven.

After 5 minutes brush with butter and sprinkle with garlic powder mixture and return to the oven for about 8 to 10 more minutes, or until done and golden brown.

Remove from oven. Brush generously with remaining butter and sprinkle with garlic powder mixture.

Serve warm.

Place the sugar in a large mixing bowl, and add the warm water and yeast.&nbsp; Set aside for 5 minutes, or until the yeast has dissolved and looks foamy.&nbsp;

Add 3 cups of bread flour, the olive oil, and the salt, and mix on low speed until a stiff dough forms. (If the dough seems sticky, add up to 3/4 cup additional flour (1/4 cup at a time), until it pulls cleanly away from the sides of the bowl.)

Knead until dough is smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.

Mist the bowl with non-stick spray, place the dough inside, and cover with plastic wrap.

Allow the dough to rise for 30 minutes.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Divide the dough into 16 equal portions, and shape each one into a rope (about 6 inches long), placing them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mist a sheet of plastic wrap with non-stick spray, place it loosely over the unbaked breadsticks, and allow them to rise for 30 minutes.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, and lightly brush the breadsticks with egg wash.&nbsp;

Bake the breadsticks for 12 to 14 minutes, or until just beginning to turn golden at the tips.&nbsp;

Stir the melted butter, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning together, and brush the mixture over the warm breadsticks.&nbsp;&nbsp;
