These Blistered Shishito Peppers are the perfect finger food. They're so easy to make too. Lightly seasoned and slightly smoky, you'll find that most are mild... one out of every ten might surprise you.&nbsp;

Blistered Shishito Peppers

shishito peppers (washed and thoroughly dried)

olive oil

togarashi

salt

lemon

Heat a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat.&nbsp;

Place the peppers in a medium bowl and toss with olive oil; set aside.

When the skillet is hot, arrange the peppers in a single layer; reserve the bowl they were in.

Saute the peppers uncovered, turning occasionally, until they charred and blistered, about 6 to 8 minutes total.

Return the peppers to the bowl, and toss with togarashi and salt. Squeeze lemon over peppers, to taste. Serve immediately.

Pour the avocado (or other high heat oil)...

Pour the avocado (or other high heat oil) over the peppers and toss to coat. (Feel free to get crazy here - sesame seed oil, spices, whatever you can think of. They're mild, so anything goes!) 

Dump the peppers out onto a baking sheet. 

Sprinkle with a generous pinch of sea salt. 

Roast in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or...

5 Minute Roasted Shishito Peppers

Just a few ingredients, a cast iron pan, and a hot fire are all you need to make these Wood-Fired Blistered Shishito Peppers. One truly addictive dish that’s ready in minutes!

Wood-Fired Blistered Shishito Peppers

Preheat the wood-fired oven to 500F. Drizzle the bottom of a 12” cast iron pan with 1 tablespoon of oil. Add the peppers, lemon slices, and sprinkle over the seasoning. Drizzle on the remaining 2 tablespoon of oil.

Place the pan in the pizza oven about 12-15” away from the fire and cook for about 3 minutes. Using fire-safe gloves and tongs, pull the pan out, flip the peppers and push the pan back in, cooking for another 2-4 minutes or until the peppers start to blister and char.

Remove from the oven, plate, sprinkle with a pinch of salt if desired, and enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce.

This shishito peppers recipe makes for a GREAT dinner side dish idea! The flavors from the peppers are so delicious and it's such a simple recipe!

This Blistered Shishito Peppers recipe will be your new favorite appetizer! I like to cook them with some ginger and a drizzle of soy sauce and honey to make them extra crave-worthy!

oz fresh shishito peppers (*see note)

ginger (, minced)

soy sauce

honey

salt (,

Sesame seeds (, for garnish, optional)

Aioli sauce* (, optional, for dipping)

Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Once hot, add oil. Once hot, add peppers, spreading them out in an even layer.

Cook undisturbed for 45 seconds or so, until browned on bottom. Turn them and continue cooking, turning them every so often, until blistered on all sides. Should take about 4-5 minutes.

A few seconds before removing them from heat, add ginger to the pan and sauté. Drizzle peppers with soy sauce and honey and toss to combine.

Remove to a plate and garnish with salt and sesame seeds.
