Fettuccine alfredo is one of life's greatest comfort foods. It's creamy, cheesy, carb-y, and super super flavorful. We especially love this version because the shrimp adds lots of extra flavor and some lean protein to boot!

This was awesome. Whole family loved it.  We added steamed broccoli which was great!

I made this last night and OMG it is the best version i have made so far. I have tried many different ones. Some with less and some with more ingredients. My family noticed a difference with this one. I didn't have fettuccine so i used whole wheat penni and the family still thought it was the best ever.   
Serve with some crusty Italian bread and Rex Goalith Cab Sauv ♥ . Delish for sure. 
I wish I had a better presentation picture but once I put it on the plate I was half way through before I thought to take a pic. Oh and I doubled the recipe for guest and have plenty of leftovers for lunch.

Just made this and it was awesome! Only had Half &amp; Half on hand so used in place of milk and heavy cream. Lots of garlic and parsley made this a creamy, dreamy delight! Easy too!

Flavors are good but sauce was too pasty in texture instead of creamy. Less flour?

Turned out great and really easy to make. I used the cheap Parmesan and it was still good. Next time I’ll splurge for the real Parmesan and see how that tastes.

This shrimp alfredo pasta is made with fettuccine in a creamy parmesan sauce, topped with sauteed garlic shrimp. An easy dinner that tastes like it came from a fancy restaurant!

Shrimp Alfredo

fettuccine pasta

butter (divided use)

parmesan cheese

salt and pepper

shrimp (peeled and deveined, tails removed if desired)

garlic

parsley

Cook the pasta in salted water according to package directions.

Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium low heat.&nbsp;

Add the cream and simmer for 4-5 minutes or until just thickened - do not boil.

Whisk in the parmesan cheese, stirring continuously, until cheese has melted.&nbsp;

Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.

Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large pan over medium high heat.&nbsp;

Add the shrimp to the pan and season with salt and pepper.&nbsp;

Cook the shrimp for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until shrimp are pink and opaque.

Add the garlic to the pan and cook for an additional 30 seconds.

Drain the pasta and toss with the alfredo sauce. Arrange the shrimp on top and sprinkle with parsley, then serve.

Ultimate Shrimp Alfredo

Fettuccine

butter

garlic (minced)

heavy cream (UK double cream)

Parmesan cheese (plus more for serving)

Salt and black pepper

Cook the pasta in salted water until just underdone.

Meanwhile, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat.

Saute the shrimp for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until shrimp are pink and opaque.

Add the garlic and cook another minute.  Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.

Using the same pan, heat the cream over low-medium heat.

Add the remaining butter and whisk gently until melted. Mix in the cheese. Season with freshly grated black pepper.

Drain the pasta, reserving 2 cups pasta cooking liquid. Add it to the pan with the cooked shrimp, gently toss to coat in the Alfredo sauce (adding some of the pasta water if needed to loosen).

Top with more grated cheese and chopped parsley. Serve immediately.

If your shrimp is frozen, thaw and peel before beginning. You can remove the tails or leave the tails on, if you prefer.

Bring a pot of water to a boil for the fettuccine. Once boiling, add the fettuccine and boil until tender (7-10 minutes). Reserve a ½ cup of the starchy water before draining the pasta in a colander.

While the fettuccine is boiling, prepare the shrimp and alfredo sauce. Place the peeled shrimp on a cutting board and pat dry with a paper towel. Season the shrimp with a pinch of salt and pepper.

Add 1 tablespoon butter to a large skillet and heat over medium. Once hot, swirl to coat the surface of the skillet with butter. Add the shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, or just until opaque and pink (do not overcook the shrimp). Transfer the cooked shrimp to a clean bowl.

Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add 1 tablespoon butter to the skillet along with the minced garlic. Sauté the garlic for 1-2 minutes, or just until it is very fragrant but not brown.

Add the heavy cream to the skillet and whisk to dissolve any browned bits off the bottom of the skillet. Allow the cream to come up to a simmer.

Whisk the Parmesan into the hot cream until melted. Season the sauce with salt and pepper.

Add the cooked and drained pasta and cooked shrimp back to the skillet with the sauce (make sure to add any liquid from the bowl of shrimp). Toss everything until coated in sauce. If the sauce becomes too thick or dry, add some of the reserved pasta water to loosen it up.

Taste the pasta and add more salt or pepper if needed. Top with chopped fresh parsley and serve!

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium high heat. When oil is shimmering, add garlic and onion and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Add chicken broth, milk, flour and salt and whisk until completely combined. Stir in uncooked pasta.

Bring to a gentle boil, then cover and reduce heat to a simmer.

Simmer, covered, for 10-15 minutes or until pasta is tender, stirring once or twice during this time.

Stir in shrimp and cook, uncovered, for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until shrimp is heated through.

Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese.

Season with additional salt and pepper, if needed. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve immediately.

Measure out ingredients before beginning. Thaw the shrimp completely and pat the surface dry. You may also need to remove the shell, tail, and veins.

Optional: Toast the Panko breadcrumbs and garlic powder in melted butter over medium heat until brown, about 3 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Add the seasonings, then add the half and half in small splashes, stirring continuously.

Bring to a gentle bubble, then reduce heat to low. It will continue to thicken as it simmers.

Stir in the cheese. Taste and season with salt/pepper if desired.

When the pasta is done, reserve 2 cups of pasta water and set aside.

Drain the pasta and add it to the sauce, toss to combine. The pasta will absorb the sauce and it will continue to thicken. If it becomes too thick, add a little pasta water until desired consistency is obtained.
