Shrimp Boil

lemons (divided use)

Old Bay seasoning (plus more for garnish)

garlic (smashed)

onion

potatoes

shrimp (peeled and deveined (leave tails on))

sausage

butter

Cut 2 of the lemons into quarters. Cut the remaining lemon into wedges and reserve the wedges for later use.

Fill a large pot with 12-14 cups of water. Place the 2 quartered lemons in the water along with the Old Bay seasoning, garlic and onion. Bring to a boil.

Add the potatoes to the pot and cook for 10-12 minutes or until just tender. Add the corn and sausage and cook for another 3-4 minutes.

Add the shrimp to the pot and cook for 2-3 minutes or until pink and opaque.

Drain the shrimp mixture from the pot, reserving 1 cup of the broth.

Melt the butter and whisk it into the reserved broth. Pour the broth over the shrimp mixture.

Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon wedges. Sprinkle with additional Old Bay seasoning to taste, then serve.

Preheat GRILL to 400˚F. Tear out 4 large (measuring 12x12) heavy duty foil sheets. Set aside.

Add 8 cups of water to a large pot and set over high heat; bring to a boil. Add potatoes and corn to boiling water; reduce heat to a steady simmer and continue to cook for 10 minutes. Drain.

In a large mixing bowl combine shrimp, sausages, onion, garlic, potatoes, and corn.

Add melted butter to the shrimp mixture. Season with salt, pepper, and old bay seasoning; stir until thoroughly combined.

Divide the shrimp mixture ingredients between the four aluminum foil sheets. Wrap foils tightly around the ingredients and seal it all together.

Place the packets directly on the grill and cook for 15 minutes, flipping once halfway through cooking. Remove from grill.

Carefully open up the packets, garnish with lemon and parsley; serve and enjoy!

Grill Directions

Preheat oven to 400˚F.

Transfer prepared packets to a large baking sheet.

What's your favorite part of a shrimp boil?

Fool proof and delicious.  Was an absolute hit. Cheated and bought cooked pre seasoned potatoes (found in the meat section) and cubed them up.  Mixed everything up in a big bowl so evenly coated. Skipped the foil pack and split up into 2 casserole dishes (single layer). Covered with foil and baked in oven. Served with warm baguette to soak up the juices.  Definitely will make again and again!

Was very easy to make and very tasty. Cooked mine on a Webber Grill at suggested temperature and time. Potatoes were still a little hard. Recommend putting potatoes in the microwave whole for 2 to 3 minutes then cutting them down to 1/2 inch pieces instead of 1 inch so they can cook faster. Overall Awesome Recipe!

Actually microwaving the potatoes beforehand helps them in the cooking process, just so they aren’t hard or have that undone taste to them. They also soak up the favor better that way. Another tip: add beer to the pack... there’s a word of flavor that jumps out when it’s mixed with the seasonings!

These foil packets come out so good! I add cabbage and an ice cube so it can steam alittle.

just made this for my family. I doubled up in the old bay, oil, salt & pepper; followed the comments of cutting potatoes smaller and mixing all in a bowl before putting in foil...and absolutely amazing!!

I love this recipe! I used smoked sausage and it was really good. I agree about mixing everything in a large bowl (it's easier to mix), and cutting the potatoes into smaller pieces.

I par boiled the potatoes and sausage prior to adding to the packet. Baked them in the oven 20 minutes and they came out perfect!

Definitely need to par cook the potatoes. Great recipe, though.

This works very well with scallops!
I cut the potatoes to max 1/2” and boiled them until slightly soft so they still hold together. Mix in a bowl then put into 18” heavy duty foil!

My family loved it. I used sweet potatoes, and asparagus with my own spices.  Oven at 425 for 25 mins.

I put the potatoes and corn in the microwave for 6 min. each, then I put mussels for more seafood flavor in the packet and this came out delicious.

I parboil the potatoes a bit, but otherwise follow the recipe. My husband isn't a shrimp fan, so I just double the sausage.  Love this with some corn bread.

Make Broth

Broth: Pour water into large pot. Add lemon, onion and garlic. Stir in old bay seasoning. Cover and heat over medium heat and bring to a boil. Remove lid and reduce to a simmer and let simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

Cook Potatoes

Cook Potatoes: Carefully add in the potatoes and let cook for 10 minutes.

Cook Corn

Cook Corn: Add in the corn and continue cooking at a simmer for another 5 minutes.

Cook Shrimp

Cook Shrimp: Add in shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until pink and opaque.

Remove

Remove potatoes, corn and shrimp from the broth using a skimmer or large slotted spoon, add to a large bowl.

Make Garlic Butter Sauce

Garlic Butter Sauce: In a small bowl combine the melted butter, garlic and broth that was used. Whisk this together.

Pour

Pour half of the garlic butter sauce over the boil and reserve the rest to serve for dipping. Sprinkle additional old bay seasoning as desired.

Serve

Cut larger potatoes in half, should be bite size.

Place potatoes in 6 or 7 quart slow cooker.

Add chicken broth.

Top with sausage and sprinkle on Old Bay seasoning and cayenne.

Add the corn quarters on top.

Cover and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours, 3 to 4 hours on high, or until the corn and potatoes are tender.

Turn the slow cooker to high and gently add the shrimp and stir into mixture.

Cover and cook for an additional 10 minutes or until the shrimp are opaque.

Use a slotted spoon to transfer the shrimp boil to a large bowl or serving container. Drizzle some of the cooking liquid over the top.
