This cranberry relish is a blend of fresh cranberries, apple, orange and sugar, all mixed together to form a sweet and tart condiment. Cranberry relish is a unique and welcome addition to any holiday meal!

Place the cranberries in a food processor and pulse until coarsely chopped. Transfer the cranberries to a bowl.

Add the apple to the food processor and pulse until finely chopped. Add the apple to the bowl with the cranberries.

Add the orange to the food processor and pulse until finely chopped. Add the orange to the bowl with the cranberries and apples.

Add the sugar to the bowl and stir to combine. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least one hour or up to 3 days.&nbsp;

Serve, garnished with cranberries and orange zest if desired.

Wash the cranberries and remove any stems, bad cranberries, or inedible stuff you find. Put half of the cranberries, orange (unpeeled), and apple into the food processor and pulse to chop coarsely. Some larger pieces are okay, but nothing big enough to choke on. Pour into a bowl and process the other half of the fruit. Put it into a bowl, add the sugar to taste, and mix in the pecans.&nbsp;

Refrigerate it for a day or two to allow the flavors to develop. Quick! If you start now, it’ll be ready by Thanksgiving.

pack cranberries

Tip 100g light muscovado sugar and 100ml orange juice into a <a href="https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/content/five-best-saucepans">pan</a>, then bring to the boil.

Stir in 250g fresh or frozen cranberries, then simmer until tender but still holding their shape – this will take about 5 mins if using frozen cranberries or 8-10 mins if using fresh.

The sauce will thicken as it cools. Will keep in the fridge for 1 week. On the day, bring to room temperature before serving.

Quick and Easy Cranberry Relish

Granny Smith apple (peeled, cored)

Rinse cranberries and pick out any soft ones and discard. Drain and place into a food processor.

Cut the orange into 8 sections, leaving the peel on. Cut the peeled and cored apple into 8 sections as well. Transfer to food processor.

Pulse fruits in the food processor until everything is minced into small pieces. Be careful not to over pulse.

Stir in sugar. Transfer to a serving bowl and let sit 30 minutes before serving.

Pumpkin Soup with Chili Cran-Apple Relish; Rachael Ray

Heat a medium soup pot over medium to medium high heat. Add the oil and melt the butter. Add bay, celery, and onion. Season the veggies with salt and pepper. Cook 6 or 7 minutes, until tender. Add flour, poultry seasoning and hot sauce, to taste, then cook flour a minute. Whisk in chicken stock and bring liquid to a bubble. Whisk in pumpkin in large spoonfuls to incorporate it into the broth. Simmer soup 10 minutes to thicken a bit then add in cream and nutmeg. Reduce heat to low and keep warm until ready to serve.

While soup cooks, assemble the relish: combine apple, onion, lemon juice, cranberries, chili powder, honey and cinnamon.

Adjust seasonings in soup and relish and serve soup in shallow bowls with a few spoonfuls of relish.

This is a holiday and year round favorite! We made it for the first time years ago as light holiday lunch and have been doubling a tripling the recipe ever since. Make extra relish because the dish only shines if every bite has some. I switch out the chicken stock for veggie (gluten free) and the flour for sweet rice flour (mochiko brand) to make the dish vegetarian and gluten free friendly for my fiance. If there are kids coming to Thanksgiving I'll also make an extra relish without red onions, light on the chili powder, and extra cranberries!

One of the best recipes I’ve tried from FN.  I make this every year using a freshly roasted pumpkin.  This is a fantastic savory Thanksgiving classic for our family.  Very easy to make!

Just made this first time for our Thanksgiving dinner.  Had to be dairy free so I substituted the heavy cream with white bean purée.  My husband really liked. Made early for Thanksgiving Day so verdict is still out on the rest of the family!

overall, very good. however, you must included the topping for full immersive effect. the base soup borders on bland, but when added to cranberry/red onion topping, it is very delicious.

I normally don’t alter recipes the first time, but I made this with roasted butternut squash and it was delicious! I roasted the squash with butter and pumpkin pie seasoning, so I didn’t need to add nutmeg to the soup. I did add a few garlic cloves. I didn’t have any celery on hand, but I will add it next time. After simmering I blended the soup with an immersion blender and added some half and half. This soup is creamy and flavorful. It tastes like Fall and the holidays. 

We made this last Thanksgiving and it was such a hit I am making it again tonight.  The relish is the secret and this year I plan to double the relish as it was gone so quick.  Give this recipe a try and I think you will love it!!!

One of my favourite online recipes, I think I have been making it for almost 10 years! Still solid. Last night I used soy cream for a change and it worked out great. Also I steamed a pumpkin that was gifted to me, but I think using a can is much more efficient ;)

Fresh Cranberry Relish

Slice the very edge root ends off of the orange, just until you see the flesh. Leave the rest of the skin ON the orange and slice it into 8 pieces.

Place the fresh cranberries, orange slices and sugar in your food processor and process until smooth (or until no large chunks remain).

Refrigerate until ready to serve (it tastes best after being in the fridge for at least on hour) or for up to 1 week. Serve over turkey, chicken, pork loin etc.

Add the cranberries, chipotle peppers, honey, brown sugar, water, orange juice and orange zest to a small saucepan over medium high heat.

Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer until cranberries begin to burst, 15-20 minutes.

Mash the cranberries slightly, then add the diced mango and stir to combine.

Continue simmering on low for an additional 10-15 minutes.

Remove from the heat and chill until ready to serve.

Pulse several times to breakdown the cranberries and incorporate the ingredients. It should still be a little chunky.

Allow the cranberry relish to sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before serving so the flavors can come together. Serve.
