Crock Pot Ribs

baby back ribs (about 3-4 lbs)

onion

garlic

water

ketchup

chili sauce

BBQ Sauce

Combine all rub ingredients (below).

Remove silver membrane from the back of the ribs. Rub front and back of the ribs with spice mixture.

Place onion, sliced garlic, water and ribs in a slow cooker.

Cook ribs on high 4 hours or low 8 hours or until fork tender.

Preheat broiler. Combine ketchup, chili sauce and barbecue sauce.

Brush ribs with sauce mixture and broil (or grill) 3-5 minutes or until charred.

Crock Pot Ribs Recipe

smoked paprika or paprika

brown sugar

salt

black pepper

red pepper flakes

St. Louis-style pork spareribs

jar Barbecue Sauce (Blue’s Hog original is superb)

cider vinegar (if the barbecue sauce is on the sweet side)

Set the slow cooker to LOW and spray with nonstick cooking spray. (I always spray the underside of the lid to help with cleanup.)

Remove the silver membrane from the back of the ribs. Here&#x27;s a video with instructions. (You might have bought ribs with the membrane removed, and if so, skip this step.)

In a small bowl, whisk together the paprika, brown sugar, salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes. Rub the dry-rub mix evenly over the ribs.

Brush both sides of the rib with barbecue sauce and set the ribs in the slow cooker standing upright with the meaty side against the inside wall, of the slow cooker.

Pour the remaining barbecue sauce over the ribs. If using a sweet sauce, pour the cider vinegar over the ribs.

Cover and cook on LOW 5-6 hours or until the meat is fork-tender.

Serve with additional store-bought barbecue sauce or strain the juices, from the pan, through a fine-mesh strainer into a medium saucepan.

Bring the sauce to a boil, reduce the heat to low and simmer 15-20 minutes or until the mixture has reduced to 2 cups.

To serve, slice the meat between the bones and serve with barbecue sauce.

These slow cooker BBQ baby back ribs are seriously delicious and so tender! They fall off the bone beautifully and melt in your mouth. They are seasoned with a homemade dry rub, slow cooked for 6 hours until tender, and broiled with your favorite BBQ sauce.

Slow Cooker BBQ Baby Back Ribs

baby back pork ribs

½ a yellow onion, sliced

garlic,

Your favorite BBQ sauce (about 1 cup or to taste)

smoked paprika

chili powder

cumin

garlic powder

onion powder

Remove the outer membrane from the back side of the rack of ribs. Here’s how: on one end of the ribs, run a paring knife through the outer membrane layer until the layer starts to loosen and separate. Then carefully peel off the membrane all the way to the other side. Note: For visuals, see photos within this blog post under “Step-by-Step Instructions.”

Pat dry ribs with paper towel. In a bowl, mix all the dry rub ingredients. Evenly distribute and rub the seasoning all over the ribs, on both sides.

Place the ribs in a large slow cooker, lined up or curled up against the sides of the pot (see photos above). Add onions, garlic, and water in the center. Cover with the lid, making sure it closes completely.

Cook on LOW for 6 hours until the meat is tender (if you have 4-pound ribs, cook for 6.5 hours). Note: Don&#39;t overcook, otherwise they will fall apart too much, 6 to 6.5 hours is enough. Also, if you can&#39;t fit the entire rack, cut into 2-3 pieces and arrange them as best as you can for even cooking.

Remove from the slow cooker carefully and transfer to a large sheet pan, being careful not to break apart the meat. If it&#39;s difficult to get the cooked ribs out of the slow cooker, cut into 2-3 equal pieces and then lift the ribs from the bottom using a large spatula.

Brush ribs with your favorite BBQ sauce. Broil for 2-4 minutes until caramelized. Tip: don’t broil too close to the heating element to prevent it from burning. I use the middle rack.

Serve with more BBQ sauce if needed. If desired, serve with some of the onions from the slow cooker. Enjoy!

Remove the silver skin on the back of the ribs. Pat the ribs dry and season both sides of the ribs with salt and pepper.

Them combine garlic powder, smoked paprika, ground mustard, chili powder, cayenne powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl. Mix seasonings together and coat both sides of the ribs with the dry rub. (Tip: you can let these ribs marinate overnight in the fridge for extra flavor)

Pour your favorite bbq BBQ sauce into the slow cooker along with brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, a splash of whiskey, and some Worcestershire sauce. Whisk everything together.

Cut the slab of ribs in half, and then place half of the ribs on the bottom of the slow cooker and the other half on top. Spoon the bbq BBQ sauce on top of the ribs and then cover with the lid.

Cook on low for 6 hours. (See notes section for cooking times)

Once ribs are finished cooking, place ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Coat with remaining BBQ sauce/braising liquid from the crockpot. Broil the ribs in the oven for 3-5 minutes on the middle rack. (be sure to watch as they can burn quickly)

Slow Cooker BBQ Pork Ribs

Place the ribs into the bottom of a well greased crock pot. Lay the onions over the top of the ribs.

Whisk together the barbecue sauce and lemon juice until blended well. Pour the mixture over the ribs.

Place the lid on the crock pot and cook on low for 8-9 hours or until the ribs are cooked through and tender. Be sure to baste the ribs every once in while keep them coated on both sides.

Only way to cook spare ribs. My husband is crazy for BBQ ribs and loves this method of cooking. They are always tender and so juicy and this is great for holiday picnics, birthday celebrations or for just the two of us. I do use Sweet Baby Ray's sauce. MMMM, think it's time for some ribs.

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!  I had a 2.7 lb. rack of ribs that was already cut in two.  I adjusted the dry ingredients for weight: (1) TBsp-Brown Sugar; 1 TBsp. Hunarian Paprika (Hot/Spicey! &amp; PERFECT; 1/2 TBsp Celtic Sea Salt (I didn't have Kosher) and 1/4 tsp. Black Pepper.
I poured (1) full cup of Sweet Baby Ray's Hickory &amp; Brown sugar over the edges that stook up around the Pot wall and Put on the Lid!
Cook Time: 12:30pm to 3:00-I figured about 1 hr/pound. And it was the most outrageously delicious BBQ Ribs I've ever had!!  The sauce it created was perfect!  Tender and juicy.
Our Pot is probably big enough for the 5-6-lb. called for in the recipe  So I will LOVE trying it again!  QUICK &amp; EASY  5*****'s!
