How to Cook a Ham

orange juice

ginger ale

maple syrup

honey

brown sugar

dijon mustard

black pepper

Remove the ham from the refrigerator 1 hour before cooking.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Place the ham sliced side up in a roasting pan.

Pour the orange juice and ginger ale overtop the ham.

Cover the pan tightly with foil and bake for 20 minutes.

In a small bowl, combine the syrup, honey, sugar, mustard and pepper. Mix well.&nbsp;

Baste the ham with juices and brush with ham glaze. Bake again for 20 minutes.

(Be sure to leave about 1/2 cup of ham glaze for basting again right before serving.)

Continue baking them ham, basting with the honey glaze every 15 minutes until the internal temperature of the ham reaches 140 degrees Fahrenheit.&nbsp; This will take about 10-15 minutes per pound of fully cooked ham. Plan for about 90-120 minutes of cooking for a ham.&nbsp;

Remove the ham from the oven and allow it to rest covered for 10-15 minutes.

Baste with the remaining ham glaze right before serving.

Remove the ham and place on a baking sheet.

In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and spices.

Pat the sugar mixture all over the outside of the ham.

Place the ham under the broiler (make sure it is not too close to the top broiler. If it is, move it to a lower oven rack).

Set the oven to broil on high for 4-5 minutes. Watch the ham closely! When food is cooking under the broiler it can start to burn very quickly. You’re looking for the sugar to start bubbling and caramelizing.

The sugar will be VERY HOT so let the ham rest for a few minutes so that the sugar cools.

Honey Baked Ham is traditionally served cold, but you can serve this ham warm if you’d like.

There are a lot of recipes for copycat honey baked hams, but the best comes from a book full of “secret” recipes by Todd Wilbur. If you love trying to recreate restaurant classics at home, you should definitely take a look at his book. We tweaked his recipe slightly and are sharing how to get that crispy sugary crust on your homemade hams.
 
WHAT DOES SPIRAL CUT HAM MEAN?
Although some hams come unsliced, many hams you can buy at the store will say “spiral cut”. So what does this mean? It means there is one continuous cut around the bone of the ham. The slices are generally thin and even, making it really easy to serve to guests.

HOW DO YOU MAKE HONEY BAKED HAM?
There are 3 steps to remaking a honey baked ham.
Heat a spiral sliced ham.
Coat it with it with a sugary topping.
Heat that sugar topping until it melts and becomes “crusted” on the ham.

Ingredients
Spiral Baked Ham
½ cup honey
Sugar Topping:
¾ cup white sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ teaspoon cloves
¼ teaspoon paprika
Dash of ginger
Dash of onion powder

Slow Roasted Boneless Leg of Lamb

lb (2.2 kg) boneless leg of lamb

garlic;

thyme

If you're looking for a delicious way to celebrate Easter, try these cinnamon sugar Resurrection Rolls. The homemade disappearing marshmallow rolls represent the empty tomb!

Resurrection Rolls

milk

butter ((room temperature))

sugar

eggs ((room temperature))

salt

all-purpose flour

Red Star Platinum Yeast ((1 package))

marshmallows

butter

Put the milk (95-115 degrees Fahrenheit) and the butter in the bowl of a stand mixer. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk. (If the yeast is not instant yeast, let it sit for 5 minutes to activate.)

Add the sugar, eggs, salt, and flour. (Be sure to not pack the flour into the cup. Spoon the flour into the cup carefully, then level it with a knife.)

With a paddle attachment for your stand mixer, mix for a few seconds until just combined. Let this mixture sit for about 5 minutes.

Switch the attachment to the dough hook and knead on medium speed for 10 minutes.

Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled.

Divide and roll dough into 15 balls.

Flatten a dough ball in the palm of your hand.

Place a large marshmallow in the middle of the dough. Wrap the dough around, being careful to completely cover and seal the marshmallow inside the dough.

Roll the dough ball until it is smooth. Repeat with the remaining dough balls.

Place the dough balls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Cover and rise for 15-20 minutes or until almost doubled.

Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter, the sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

Bake at 375 for 13 to 16 minutes or until lightly browned.

Serve warm.

Tender, fall off the bone lamb shanks braised in a rich deeply flavored red wine gravy.

Instant Pot Lamb Shanks

tomato paste

Italian seasoning

cumin seeds

salt and pepper

lamb shanks (trimmed of excess fat)

onions

carrots (diced)

celery

mild chilis (optional - diced)

garlic (roughly chopped)

dry red wine (inexpensive)

rosemary

chicken broth

cornstarch

water

Marinate the lamb shanks

In a large bowl, whisk all of the marinade ingredients together to get a paste-like-marinade. Add the shanks to the bowl, and coat them in the marinade. Make sure that the shanks are well coated.

Make the marinade

Brown the lamb shanks

On the Instant Pot press on SAUTE twice to choose the MEDIUM setting, and heat olive oil. The screen will show the HOT message. Add the marinated lamb shanks holding from the bone and meat side down to sear. Then start moving them around until browned from all sides. If you feel like your pot is overcrowded, work in batches with more oil.

Transfer the lamb shanks onto a plate

Transfer the shanks to a plate, tent with foil to keep warm and set aside.

Saute the vegetables and add red wine

Saute the onion, carrot, and celery, chili if using, and garlic until softened for 5-7 minutes while stirring regularly. Add red wine and let it cook down for a bit (on SAUTE mode).

Put the lamb shanks back along with the seasonings

Put the shanks back in the pot. Add a cinnamon stick, the fresh herbs, and the bay leaves.

Add broth

Add the leftover marinade if anything is left in the bowl, followed by the chicken broth. Make sure that you add the stock to the side so that it doesn&#039;t wash away the seasonings from the meat.

Pressure Cook

Secure the lid and set the vent to SEALING. Select the PRESSURE COOK/MANUAL setting and set the cooking time for 60 minutes at high pressure. The Instant Pot will take around 10-15 minutes to come to pressure and start cooking. When the cooking program ends, allow the steam to release naturally.

Remove the lid and transfer the lamb shanks onto a plate

Carefully remove the lid, and transfer the shanks onto a plate; tent to keep warm.

To cook the shanks

Strain the sauce, and thicken it

Using a mesh strainer, strain the sauce into a bowl pressing to extract all sauces and flavors out of the veggies, then put it back in the pot. Press on SAUTE, when it starts simmering add the cornstarch slurry. Whisk until the gravy is rich, silky and glossy. Taste, and add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve

Serve lamb shanks over mashed potatoes with plenty of sauce. Garnish with chopped fresh herbs.

These Instant Pot lamb shanks are braised in a rich deeply flavored red wine until they’re fall off the bone tender! They take a fraction of the cooking time compared to oven braised lamb shanks, and are much easier to make in the Instant Pot.

Easter Dinner Menu

spiral- cut ham ((cooked))

pineapple juice ((do not use fresh))

hash browns (shredded

pepper (to taste)

chicken soup

sour cream

corn flakes (optional topping 1)

shredded cheese (optional topping 2)

Pepperidge Farms Chessman Cookies

bananas (sliced)

vanilla pudding

cream cheese

condensed milk

whipped topping (thawed)

Remove the ham from packaging and place ham, flat-side down, in a large slow cooker (7 quarts or larger). &nbsp;

Generously rub brown sugar all over the ham.

Pour maple syrup and pineapple juice over the ham.

Place lid on slow cooker and cook for 2-3 hours on low heat. &nbsp;

30 minutes prior to serving, remove lid and spoon the juices over the ham. &nbsp;Cover and cook for 30 more minutes.

Remove ham from slow cooker and serve.

Slow Cooker Spiral Ham

Mix all ingredients, except optional toppings, in a large bowl. &nbsp;Spread mixture evenly into a 9x13 pan. &nbsp;Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. &nbsp;

Optional toppings:&nbsp;1. &nbsp;Corn flake crumb topping: &nbsp;BEFORE baking Sprinkle corn flake crumbs over casserole. &nbsp;Drizzle 2 tablespoons of melted better over the corn flake crumbs. &nbsp;Bake.2. &nbsp;Melted cheese topping: &nbsp;Prepare casserole and bake for 50 minutes. &nbsp;Remove casserole from oven and evenly disperse 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheese over the casserole. &nbsp;Return the casserole to the oven and bake for 10 more minutes.

Cheesy Potato Casserole

Rinse asparagus. &nbsp;Snap off the bottoms of each stalk and discard the bottoms. &nbsp;

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. &nbsp;Add asparagus to the skillet and sprinkle sugar over the stalks. &nbsp;

Sauté asparagus over medium-high for 5-7 minutes or to your preferred doneness. &nbsp;Serve immediately.

Sautéed Sweet Asparagus

Line the bottom of a 9x13 pan with one layer of Chessmen cookies.

Place sliced bananas on top of the cookie layer.

In a large bowl, combine milk and pudding mix. Stir until smooth. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, combine cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk. Stir until smooth. Fold in whipped topping.

Add the two mixtures together and stir until well combined. Pour mixture over the banana layer.

Top with another layer of Chessmen cookies (the picture side up) and refrigerate until ready to serve.
