This is my all time FAVORITE Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe!  Just 5 ingredients!This recipe will cover either one 2-layer 8&quot; or 9&quot; cake, 24 cupcakes, or generously frost (as much frosting as in the photos) 12 cupcakes.Please see note regarding thickness

Cream Cheese Frosting

(1 stick) unsalted butter (softened (113 grams))

oz cream cheese (softened (brick-style, not spreadable) (226 grams))

vanilla extract

salt

powdered sugar* ((500 grams))

Combine butter and cream cheese in the bowl of a stand mixer (or you may use an electric mixer) and beat until creamy, well-combined, and lump-free.

Add vanilla extract and salt and stir well to combine.

With mixer on low, gradually add powdered sugar until completely combined.

Use to frost completely cooled cake or cupcakes.

Mascarpone Whipped Cream Frosting is a thick, stable whipped cream made with mascarpone cheese, heavy cream and powdered sugar. 

Mascarpone Whipped Cream

mascarpone cheese, cold

(296 ml) heavy whipping cream

(65 g) powdered sugar

½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) pure vanilla extract

½ cup (592 milliliters) heavy whipping cream

¼ cup (163 grams) powdered sugar

(5 milliliters) pure vanilla extract

Place the mixing bowl and whisk attachment in the freezer for 5 to 10 minutes to chill.

Spoon the mascarpone cream into your bowl and beat on a medium-low speed (speed 3 on your stand mixer). Slowly pour in the heavy cream, about 1 cup, allowing the mascarpone cheese to turn to a liquid consistency.

Add the remaining heavy cream then increase the mixing speed to high (speed 8-10) and beat it until soft peaks form.

Next, add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beating on low until sugar is incorporated. Continuing beating at a high speed until stiff peaks form.

May never make plain whipped cream again! I substituted in 2 T.  strawberry cream cheese for for part of the marscapone and blended in 3 diced large fresh strawberries. Wow, a nice subtle fruity flavor! Served over Ga'teau au Chocolat (which my husband says is French for fancy brownie!).

I made her mascarpone whipped cream with her delicious vanilla cup cakes! It was delicious and not overly sweet,  super moist!  My son even asked if it was a tres leches cupcake because of how  milky flavorful it was and not dry at all! Her recipes are easy to follow so if you’re  new to baking you won’t go wrong! Vegan Buttercream Frosting (Only 4 Ingredients)

The best! I make homemade marscapone and I'm always looking for recipes to use it in this icing is fabulous! Sometimes I use less cream for a studier icing. So far I've used almond, vanilla and orange flavoring. TY for posting it. Oh and I vary the amount of sugar too again depending on what I'm doing with it! I love the texture far better than a gelatin stabilized whipped cream! Being that I'm not a huge cream cheese person either this will easily substitute for any cream cheese icing! TY

I'm not a big fan of buttercream.  I prefer whipped cream, but of course it doesn't hold up well for cakes.  I already had a Mother's Day dessert, but I wanted to experiment with something different.  I looked up stabilized whipped cream and came across this recipe.  It looked way too simple and too good to be true but I thought, what the heck.  Ran out to the grocery store for some mascarpone cheese (ya, it's not cheap) and thought I'd give it a try.  Wow!  I'm sorry, did you miss that?  Wow, wow, wow!!! Super easy.  Like, I made it and still can't believe how easy, and OMG delicious.  Why, why did I not find/try this recipe before?  My family loved the cake (chocolate with fresh strawberries) and this frosting held up perfectly.  I will be making this again and again and again!!! Are you sitting the powder sugar or maybe using to much? Try adding a tad more milk of something to help blend it better, preferably a liquid.

In the bowl of a mixer, beat the butter and cream cheese together for about 2 minutes until fully incorporated.

Update: it worked out great for writing on my cake using piping tools.  I couldn't get a flower to hold its shape though -- BUT, my apartment was very warm and I am going to try again after chilling the frosting longer.   This frosting is DELICIOUS, just like all of Jessica's recipes that I've made so far.  I'll use a thermometer to experiment with different temperatures, and want to start at the lowest pipable temperature, then put the piped flower in the freezer to set it.

This is going to be my go-to cream cheese frosting!
