I did not serve the ham with kale and black eyed peas, but with stewed apples and scalloped potatoes.  I only used about half of the glaze.  I heard no complaints from anyone.  This is an easy, tasty ham steak.

Made this as written except used brown sugar/stevia blend, turned out great. My new favorite way to eat kale!

Your Holiday Ham Hasn't Seen Anything Like our Amazing Apple-Infused Glaze

Recipe loosely adapted from Bon Appetit via Epicurious

Balsamic and Dijon Glazed Ham

8-10 lb ham shank (fully cooked)

balsamic vinegar

dijon mustard

Remove the ham from the refrigerator 1-2 hours before it needs to go into the oven. This will allow the meat to come a bit closer to room temperature before it goes into the oven.

Place the ham on a large cutting board and score the ham with cuts, 1/2&quot; deep in a diamond pattern. If that sounds confusing, look down at the ham and start in a straight line from one end to the other making a 1/2&quot; deep cut all the way across and over the top of the ham. Then repeat this cut, about an inch apart, slicing the ham from one side to the other. Then turn the ham 90 degrees and repeat, straight cuts, all the way across the ham. It should resemble a checkerboard when you are finished. This process allows the glaze to penetrate deeper into the ham. It is well-worth the effort and it only takes a few minutes.

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Line a large roasting pan or a heavy rimmed baking sheet with foil and place the ham cut side down in the pan. Roast 45-50 minutes. While the ham begins roasting, combine the sugar, vinegar and mustard in a small cup or bowl. Set aside next to the stove.

Remove the ham from the oven and baste generously with the glaze, using about 1/4 of the glaze. Continue to roast the ham until it is deep brown and glazed, brushing the ham with more glaze every 10 minutes or so.

I roast an 8 lb ham for 50 minutes, then baste it, 10 minutes more, baste again, 10 minutes more, baste it generously with all remaining glaze one last time and finished roasting it for 5 more minutes. An average of 10 minutes cooking time per lb of ham should be just right.

Transfer the ham to a large platter and let rest 10-15 minutes prior to slicing. Enjoy!

This easy pizza recipe with ham, spinach and mascarpone will quickly become a go-to midweek supper or weekend lunch dish.

Pillsbury Pizza Kit (from large Sainsbury’s stores)

l small pinch of chilli flakes (optional)

baby spinach,

tomatoes, sliced

mascarpone

Parma ham

Parmesan shavings

Preheat the oven to 220°C/fan200°C/gas 7.

Open the Pizza Kit packet according to the instructions. Unroll the pizza dough and transfer to a large baking sheet lined with baking paper. Spread the tomato sauce from the kit over the base and sprinkle with chilli flakes, if you like.

Place the spinach in a colander and pour over boiling water. When wilted, drain, cool slightly, then squeeze out any excess water and scatter over the pizza base. Top with the tomato slices, then add dollops of mascarpone.

Transfer to the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes until the base is golden, crisp and cooked through. Drape over slices of ham, sprinkle with Parmesan shavings and add a good twist of black pepper. Serve hot.

Sticky treacle-glazed ham

3.5-4kg/7lb 10 ounces-9lb boned rolled piece unsmoked ham

oranges

cinnamon

tbsp English mustard

If you need to soak the ham, do so the night before. Heat oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Place the ham, skin-side up, in a deep roasting tin, then add enough water to cover the base of the tin. Scatter the orange wedges and cinnamon stick around. Cover the pan with a tight tent of foil, then cook the ham for about 2½ hrs. (If using a different weight of ham, you want 20 mins per 450g.)

While the ham is cooking, mix the mustard, treacle and orange zest together with enough orange juice to make a mixture loose enough to paint over the ham.

When the ham has had its time, remove the roasting tin from the oven and turn up the heat to 220C/ fan 200C/gas 7. Remove the foil, leave the ham until cool enough to handle, then pour away any liquid in the tin. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut away the skin to leave an even layer of fat. Use the tip of the knife to score the ham fat diagonally at 3cm intervals – first in one direction, then the other, to produce a diamond pattern. Liberally paint the glaze over the fat, then stud with the cloves at the points of the diamond shapes.

Roast the ham for 30 mins until glazed and just beginning to char around the edges. Leave to cool and serve warm or cold, decorated with the bay and orange wedges, if you like, along with my delicious green bean salad and your favourite chutney.

Preheat oven to 400°F. Spritz 2 [24] cup mini muffin tins with cooking spray. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, use a whisk to sift together biscuit mix,  Creole seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder and dry mustard.

Add ham, 2 cups shredded cheese and onion. Mix thoroughly.

In a separate bowl whisk together buttermilk, butter and eggs. Add to mixing bowl, and mix until moistened.

This yummy Mac &amp; Cheese recipe is a great way to use your left over Holiday ham! In fact, it&#39;s a staple for every Thanksgiving and Christmas in the author&#39;s house. This isn&#39;t your regular Mac &amp; Cheese recipe though, by adding cream of mushroom soup and unsweetened almond milk, it&#39;s the ultimate creamy comfort food.

Homemade Gluten-Free Mac & Cheese with Ham

Gluten-Free Macaroni

½ tsp Olive Oil

Old or Sharp Cheddar Cheese shredded or grated

Unsalted Butter

Unsweetend Almond Milk

Pepper To Taste ((Optional))

Put your pot on to boil with the olive oil to prevent the macaroni from sticking together.

Preheat your oven to 375°.

Once the water has reached a boil, add the macaroni and give it a stir.

Cook the macaroni as directed on the package until al dente. If you over cook the pasta your mac and cheese will be mushy.

While the macaroni is cooking, grate your cheese and take one tbsp of the butter and smear it across the bottom of your baking dish using the backside of a spoon.

Open the can of mushroom soup or prepare the packet as directed.

Once your macaroni is cooked, rinse and drain it thoroughly so that there is as little moisture left on the noodles as possible.

Scoop or pour a somewhat thin layer of macroni into your buttered dish. Grab a handful of ham and spread it across the macaroni layer.

Take a spoonful of soup and drizzle it across the noodles until your layer is covered.

Add about ¼ cup of the cheese and then pour some of the almond milk over the cheese. Next take some of the butter and drop a bit at each corner of the dish and then the middle.

Option to crack some fresh pepper on each layer. Not too much though so it doesn&#39;t over power the dish.

Repeat the macaroni, ham, soup, cheese, milk and butter in layers until you have used up all of your macaroni. Usually about 3 layers.

Sprinkle any remaining cheese over the top (or add more) and add your dollups of butter, milk and crack some fresh pepper.

Bake uncovered in the 375 ° preheated oven for 45 minutes to an hour or until the cheese is crispy on top and the butter is bubbling.

Made with leftover ham, bean soup mix, and pantry staples, this 15 or 16 bean soup is the perfect way to stretch your budget – deliciously!

15 or 16 Bean Soup

Add the chicken broth and bean soup mix to a large heavy-bottomed pot like a Dutch oven or stockpot.

Bring the broth and beans to a boil over high heat. Once a boil is reached, turn the heat down to medium.

Partially cover the pot with a lid and cook for 45 minutes.

After 45 minutes have passed, add the cubed ham, onion, carrots, celery, garlic, Creole seasoning (or Cajun seasoning), garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.

Cover the pot and simmer for an additional 1 to 1 ½ hours, or until the beans are tender. Reduce the heat if necessary to maintain a steady simmer.

Taste and adjust seasoning as desired. If a thicker consistency is desired, puree some of the beans using a stick blender. Serve with corn bread, biscuits, or crusty bread.

This is the best way to use the 15 or 16 bean mixes! Very flavorful and easy to make. Our small family can normally have enough for several meals and/or freeze the extras.

Garlic butter melts deliciously over these ham and cheese sliders. This slider recipe is perfect for game day festivities or with friends and family on a Friday night.

Baked Ham and Cheese Sliders

oz (375 g) thinly sliced Ontario black forest ham

(60 mL) vegetable broth

(125 mL) butter, softened

tbsp (30 mL) chopped fresh parsley

brioche slider buns

(375 mL) shredded cheddar or Swiss cheese, divided

tbsp (30 mL) grainy mustard

tbsp (30 mL) mayonnaise

Step 1

Toss ham with broth to moisten in a bowl; set aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, stir together butter, parsley and garlic powder.

Step 3

Preheat oven to 350ºF (180ºC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 4

Cut slider buns in half and spread about half of the butter mixture onto the bottom half of the buns. Place them onto prepared pan. Sprinkle with half of the cheese and top with ham slices. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.

Step 5

In a small bowl, stir together grainy mustard and mayonnaise. Spread over remaining top buns and place on top of ham and cheese.

Step 6

Melt remaining butter mixture and brush all over top of the sliders. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and buns are toasted. Let stand 2 minutes before enjoying.
