Instant Pot cabbage made so simple with butter, salt, and pepper. It&#x27;s perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the texture is perfect! A great side to accompany any meal!

Wash the cabbage, and remove the core. Then cut into cubes and add to the Instant Pot.

Using a wooden spoon or your hands, quickly break down the cabbage cubes to separate the leaves into individual pieces.

Add butter, and season with salt and ground black pepper.

Add a cup of vegetable stock, or use water. I strongly recommend that you use vegetable stock instead of water as it adds a great flavor to the cabbage.

Secure the lid and set the vent to SEALING. Select the PRESSURE COOK/MANUAL setting and set the cooking time for 4 minutes at high pressure.

The Instant Pot will take around 10 minutes to come to pressure and start cooking.

When the cooking program ends, quickly release the steam and carefully remove the lid. Stir the cabbage to make sure that the butter and seasonings are evenly distributed, and serve.

I recommend serving this cabbage with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

(500 milliliters) unsalted chicken stock

(25 grams) garlic cloves (, crushed)

½ teaspoon (0.7 grams) dried thyme

Pressure Cook Cabbage: Add 3 tbsp (45g) unsalted butter, 8 garlic cloves, ½ tsp (0.7g) dried thyme, and 1 tsp (6.5g) fine salt to Instant Pot. Pour in 2 cups (500ml) unsalted chicken stock, then give it a quick mix. Add in cabbage wedges (ensure they are all partially submerged in the cooking liquid). With Venting Knob in Venting Position, close the lid, then turn Venting Knob to Sealing Position. Pressure Cook at High Pressure 3 minutes (tender with some crisp) to 6 minutes (tender) + Quick Release. *Pro Tip: the optimal pressure cooking time will depend on the size of your cabbage. Open the lid carefully.

Serve Instant Pot Cabbage: Taste the cabbages and ensure they are fully cooked. Add more seasoning if necessary. *Pro Tip: If you want more tender cabbages, use &quot;Saute&quot; function to cook it some more.

Black Folks Southern Cabbage Recipe

cabbage (3-4 pound cabbage, shredded)

½ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (or Cajun seasoning)

Cut out the cabbage’s core and use a food processor or a knife to shred the cabbage leaves. (I remove the outer layer of cabbage leaves first and discard them before chopping.)

Add the shredded cabbage and all the ingredients (onion, chicken apple cider vinegar, butter, Old Bay or Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper) into the Instant Pot stainless steel inner pot.

Sink the chopped cabbage as much as you can into the liquid broth.

Close the Instant Pot lid (make sure the valve is up – in the position for sealing) and pressure cook on high for 4 minutes.

When the cooking time is finished, allow a natural pressure release for at least 4 minutes.

To open the Instant Pot lid, move the valve to ‘venting’ and manually release any remaining pressure, if applicable.

This is the dish that I&#39;ve used to get cabbage haters to try - and like - cabbage for the very first time. The sweetness of the applesauce and the tang from the vinegar turns plain cabbage into something you can eat by the bowlful.

Instant Pot Sweet and Sour Cabbage

Use the sauté setting over normal, or medium heat, and warm up the water or broth.&nbsp;

Saute the onion until they become transparent. Then add the garlic and sauté a minute more.

Add the pressure cooker ingredients listed above and put the lid on and make sure that the vent is closed.

&nbsp;Cook on pressure cooker/manual setting on high pressure for 10 minutes.

Carefully move the pressure valve to release the pressure manually.

Frozen Peas and Carrots

Place butter, onion, mushrooms, cabbage, marjoram, salt, and pepper into the Instant Pot.

Add water and pasta and mix well.

Scatter peas and carrots on top. Do not stir.

Close the lid. Press PRESSURE COOK, and cook on HIGH PRESSURE for 5 minutes. Allow the pot to rest undisturbed for 10 minutes, and then release all remaining pressure.

Serve and enjoy!

Cook pasta in lots of salted boiling water, drain, and set aside.

Meanwhile, in a nonstick pan, melt butter. Add mushrooms and saute until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Add cabbage, peas and carrots, marjoram, salt,  and pepper to the pan and cook, stirring from time to time until the cabbage has softened.

Remove the pan from the heat. Add in cooked, drained pasta, and toss together.
