Turmeric Rice

jasmine rice (rinsed)

chicken broth (low sodium)

bay leaf (dried)

Rinse rice until water runs clear, drain.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add olive oil and butter.

When butter is melted, add onion and garlic, saute until softened.

Add rice and turmeric. Stir until combined. Add chicken broth and bay leaf, cover pan. Increase heat and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat, allow to simmer 15-20 minutes, or until liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat and allow to sit for 5 minutes. Remove bay leaf, fluff with a fork and serve.

Heat butter over medium heat, until completely melted and bubbling. Add onion and garlic and sauté for about 2 minutes, or until fragrant. Add turmeric and stir to incorporate. Mix in the rice until the grains are evenly coated.

Add stock, salt, and pepper over the mixture and stir to combine. Bring to a boil, cover, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat, and set aside for at least 5 minutes before fluffing the rice with a fork. Enjoy!

Instant Pot Yellow Rice

(400 grams) jasmine rice

(15 milliliters) unsalted butter

(23 grams) garlic cloves (, minced)

¼ teaspoon (1.5 grams) table salt

1½ cup (375 milliliters) unsalted chicken stock

(250 milliliters) 100% pure unsweetened coconut milk ((see recipe notes below))

Optional - Rinse Rice: Rinse rice under cold water by gently scrubbing it with your fingertips in a circling motion. Pour out the milky water, and continue to rinse until the water is clear. Be sure to drain the rice really well.

Pressure Cook Yellow Rice: Add 1 tsp (3g) turmeric powder, ¼ tsp (1.5g) table salt, minced garlic cloves, 1 tbsp (15ml) regular soy sauce, and 1½ cup (375ml) unsalted chicken stock in Instant Pot. Mix well. Add in 2 cups (400g) Jasmine rice, and make sure all the rice is submerged in the chicken stock mixture. Layer 1 cup (250ml) 100% pure unsweetened coconut milk on top. Do not mix. With Venting Knob in Venting Position, close the lid, then turn Venting Knob to Sealing Position. Pressure Cook at High Pressure for 5 minutes, then 10 minutes Natural Release. Remove the lid carefully.

Fluff &amp; Season: The yellow rice will look a bit wet when you first open the lid. Add 1 tbsp (15ml) unsalted butter on cooked yellow rice, then fluff rice with a rice paddle or fork. Taste and adjust the seasoning by adding more salt (roughly 1 - 3 large pinch of salt).

Garnish &amp; Serve: We toasted some coconut flakes to add to this tasty &amp; aromatic yellow rice as a garnish, but it&#039;ll taste yummy on its own. Enjoy~

Heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan to which you have a lid. When shimmering, add the ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon stick. Toast over medium-low heat until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Add the rice, water, coconut milk, bay leaf, and salt. Bring to a boil then reduce the heat to low and cover. Cook for 12 minutes then turn off the heat and let it sit, covered, for 10 more minutes.

Fluff the rice with a fork and remove the bay leaf and cinnamon stick. Serve warm with a few grinds of black pepper and some chopped cilantro.

📋 Yellow Rice Recipe

long grain rice (white

butter (optional)

½ teaspoon onion powder (can use white onion, minced)

garlic powder (can use fresh minced garlic)

ginger powder (can use fresh minced ginger)

Cilantro or parsley

Rinse rice. Place rice in fine mesh strainer or a bowl and rinse it for several times. Rinse by scrubbing rice gently with finger tips.

Heat olive oil in deep bottom pan on medium heat. Add rinsed rice to oil and give a quick stir.

It’s important to saute spice powders in oil to help in bloom. Sauteing spice powders also enhances the taste of the dish. I do not saute spice powders in hot oil directly, but rather add it along with rice or other ingredients like onion, garlic. That way spices won’t get burnt but bloom.

Add onion powder, ginger powder, garlic powder to rice. Saute it for 30 seconds.

Later add turmeric powder, salt and pepper to taste. Saute for 30 seconds more.

Reduce heat to low. Pour in stock or water. Stir well.

Cover pot with lid and let it cool for 15 minutes. Note cooking time mentioned here is for long grain white rice. If you switch to long grain brown rice you have to increase the liquid and time to cook.

Remove from stove, stand 10 minutes with lid on.

After 10 minutes, open lid. Add butter to rice. Butter is optional, but it helps in keeping rice soft and adds rich taste to the dish.

Using silicon spatula fluff rice stirring butter into it.

Garnish yellow rice with cilantro or parsley.

Serve as side dish with curries, seafood or any grilled meat.

Mediterranean Yellow Rice

Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Add the onions and saute until softened and slightly translucent.

Add the garlic, cumin, turmeric, salt and pepper, and rice to the pot. Stir frequently for a couple of minutes until the rice starts to look translucent.

Stir in the water and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and allow the rice to gently simmer until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.&nbsp;

Remove the pot from the heat. Lift up the lid and lay a clean dish towel over the top. Replace the lid on top of the towel and allow the rice to steam for 5-10 minutes.

Fluff the rice with a fork and fold in the pine nuts and cilantro. Taste and adjust for salt and pepper, as needed. Serve.

Rinse rice well a few times. Soak it for at least 15 to 30 mins. Drain the rice and set aside.

Heat butter in a pot and melt it.

Add all the whole spices and saute on a low flame until fragrant.

Then add ginger garlic and saute again for 30 to 60 seconds without burning or browning the garlic.

Next stir in pepper and turmeric.

Then add drained rice and regulate the flame to high.

Fry the rice for about 2 mins stirring occasionally. Avoid stirring often as the rice grains will break.

Pour the stock or coconut milk &amp; add salt. Check the salt and add more if desired.

Simmer and cover the pot. Cook on a low heat until the rice is fully cooked.

When done fluff up the turmeric rice with a fork and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with a curry, dal or a raita.

Press saute button and add butter to the steel insert of the instant pot.

When the butter melts, add all the whole spices and saute for 30 seconds.

Saute ginger, garlic, turmeric and pepper for 30 to 60 seconds.

Then add the drained rice &amp; fry for a minute.

Pour 1 ¾ cup +  2 tbsps stock or coconut milk along with salt. Stir and check salt.

Press cancel button &amp; secure the instant pot with the lid. Position the steam release handle to sealing.

Press pressure cook button (manual in older Ips) &amp; set the timer to 5 minutes.

When the instant pot beeps, press cancel and let the pressure release naturally 10 mins.

Fluff up the turmeric rice and garnish with coriander leaves.

Turmeric rice recipe

A fragrant, flavorful yellow rice with a golden hue for your holiday feasting table or for a Middle Eastern kick to your everyday white rice. Garnished with toasted pine nuts and raisins for a nutty flavor and a bit of sweetness.

Yellow Rice Recipe (With Turmeric)

Drain rice and set aside.

In a pot, over medium heat pour the tap water and bring to a rapid boil.

Add turmeric, oil, spices you are using then rice.

let it cook for another 6-7 minutes then drain rice.

In the same pot add ghee then sauté onion for 2 minutes until it turns light yellow.

Add rice back, salt and the boiling water.

Reduce heat to minimum, cover the pot with a paper kitchen towel then put the lid on. Note4

Keep on cooking for another 10-15 minutes until the rice is cooked.
