Custard recipe is very to easy to make. This custard recipe is a basic vanilla custard sauce made without eggs and without custard powder.

Basic Eggless Vanilla Custard

milk, (750 ml)

corn starch (or corn flour)

sugar (or add as required)

vanilla

In a heavy sauce pan take 3 cups milk.

Add ¼ cup corn starch and 8 tablespoons sugar or add as per taste.

Next add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or ½ of a vanilla bean, scraped.&nbsp;

Mix everything and keep the pan on stove top on a low to medium-low flame.

Stir so that all the sugar dissolves. Use a wired whisk for ease of use and best results.

Simmer on a low to medium-low flame.

When milk gets hot, then stir often so that the custard mixture does not stick to bottom of pan and forms lumps.

Continue to stir till the custard sauce starts to thicken gradually.

Do remember to cook on a low to medium-low flame. So do not rush. You don’t want a lumpy custard or a browned or blackened custard.

The sauce will thicken.&nbsp;continue to simmer and stir continuously till the sauce thickens more.

Take the sauce in a spoon and it should coat the back side of the spoon.

Switch the flame off and cover the pan with cotton kitchen towel or napkin. Placing a cotton kitchen towel reduces from forming the layer of skin on top. Let the custard sauce cool at room temperature. Later you can keep in fridge. Do note that on cooling the sauce will thicken more.

You can use this custard sauce to make desserts like fruit custard, bread &amp; butter pudding, baked custard, trifle etc.

Put the cream and milk into a large pan and gently bring to just below boiling point. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, whisk the yolks, cornflour, sugar and vanilla. Gradually pour the hot milk mixture onto the sugar mixture, whisking constantly.

Wipe out the saucepan and pour the mixture back into it. Heat gently, stirring with a wooden spoon (see Steps 1 and 2, for stirring tips) until the custard is thickened, but before any lumps form. Eat hot or cold.

Vanilla bean: Split vanilla pod down the middle and scrape the seeds out using a small knife. Place into saucepan with cream and the empty vanilla pod.

Infuse cream: Simmer uncovered over low heat for 10 minutes. Remove from stove and set aside to infuse for 1 hour with lid on (you can skip this step if using paste, just let it cool to lukewarm). Remove vanilla pod. Skim off any skin that has formed on the surface.

Preparation: Preheat oven to 130°C/265°F (120°C fan). Place 4 x ⅔ cup / 150 ml empty ramekins in a baking pan with high enough sides that enough water can be poured in to come halfway up ramekins.

Boil water: Boil a kettle of water.

Whisk egg yolks and sugar: Whisk yolks and sugar until just well combined. Don&#039;t whisk too much, as this can create bubbles.

Add cream: Pour cream into eggs and gently stir to combine. Divide mixture between ramekins with a soup ladle.

Water bath: Pour in enough boiling water so it comes halfway up the sides of the ramekins. (If you have too much water, ramekins will float around - not good!)

Bake: Bake for 35 - 40 minutes, or until the custard is set but there is still a slight wobble when you GENTLY give the ramekin a little shake.

Chill: Remove ramekins from water. Leave to cool, then refrigerate for at least 6 hours and preferably overnight (up to 3 days is OK).

Blow torch method: Sprinkle 1/2 tsp sugar over the surface of each crème brûlée. Use a blow torch to melt and caramelise the sugar. Serve immediately.

Grill / broiler method: Crème brûlée should be first refrigerated overnight. Preheat grill to high. Place crème brûlée under grill for 1 minute or until sugar is melted and caramelised. Refrigerate afterwards for at least 20 minutes and up to 1 hour (to reset custard immediately under toffee), then serve.

Crème brûlée perfect texture: The texture should be like a very thick yogurt, rather than set so it is sliceable like cake or even like a soft set jelly. When you take a scoop, the custard should barely hold together, but shouldn&#039;t be melting or running. When you take a bite the custard should literally just melt in your mouth.

Heat the milk in the saucepan until it comes just up to the boil, then take off the heat immediately. In a bowl, beat together the egg yolks, vanilla sugar and flours. Pour the milk slowly over the egg mix, beating well.

Return the mixture to the pan and place over a low heat, stirring for 8-10 mins until the mixture begins to thicken. Remove and serve with the dumplings.

Vanilla Custard

Heat milk and vanilla extract in a heavy bottom, medium saucepan until at a low simmer. Do not let it boil, until heat until little bubbles form around the edges.

Meanwhile, place sugar, cornstarch and salt into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment or a large mixing bowl with a whisk, blend dry ingredients until mixed. Add egg yolks and blend until a pale yellow.

Slowly pour milk mixture into eggs while whisking at a low speed. Do not mix too fast or it will froth and foam. Blend until mixed.

Transfer back to the saucepan and cook over medium-low heat for 3-5 minutes, or until thickened. Whisk continually to prevent mixture from scalding to the pan.

As soon as mixture thickens, remove from heat and whisk in butter (or bourbon), if desired.

Transfer to a clean bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Press plastic wrap into the custard mixture so there is no air between the two. This prevents the filmy skin that can develop. To set faster, place in small ramekins or bowls.

Refrigerate for a minimum of 3 hours, but up to 2 days.

Vanilla Custard Recipe

Made with just 5 ingredients, this keto crème brûlée recipe is an easy and indulgent gluten-free and low carb dessert you can make at home.

Preheat the oven to 150C/300F and prepare 4 ramekins by placing them in a deep baking dish (a casserole dish will work) so it can later be filled with boiling water, when the ramekins will be half-submerged. Prepare boiling water in a large pot or kettle.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetener, vanilla, and salt until combined and a homogenous consistency.

Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until it starts simmering at the edges. Remove from the heat.

Very slowly, pour the cream into the egg mixture while whisking vigorously without stopping.

Pour the mixture into the prepared ramekins and pour the boiling water into the baking dish. If you see small pieces of cooked eggs in the mixture, pour them into the ramekins using a fine mesh strainer.

Bake in the water bath for 25-30 minutes or until just barely set in the middle. Should be jiggly.

Remove from the oven and let sit at room temperature until completely cool. Then, refrigerate uncovered until completely chilled and set.

Remove from the fridge, sprinkle allulose sweetener evenly on top (around 1 tbsp per ramekin), and blow with a culinary torch until the sweetener has melted and become a caramel color.

Serve hot with a few drops of raspberry syrup. If it’s to be served cold, cover it immediately with cling film, so that the foil touches the custard’s surface. This way, the milk film won’t form on the top. Leave to cool, then refrigerate. Serve cold.

Easy, no-bake strawberry tiramisu cake with crushed berries and lady fingers!

No-Bake Strawberry Tiramisu Cake Recipe (video)

Prepare the custard first to allow for cooling time. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar for a minute. In a separate ramekin, combine the cornstarch and water to form a slurry. Add the cornstarch slurry to the egg yolk mixture. Whisk the mixture vigorously for 2 to 3 minutes, until it's pale in color and ribbons off of the whisk.

Into a separate saucepan, add the milk and flour. Heat the milk over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the milk is steaming hot but not boiling. Slowly temper the hot milk into the egg yolk mixture - add a little bit at a time and whisk well after each addition until all the milk is added.

Pour the mixture back into the sauce pan. Cook it over medium heat, stirring constantly with a rubber spatula, for 4 to 5 minutes. The mixture will thicken and take on a pudding-like consistency. Remove it from heat and add the butter. Whisk in the butter until it's completely melted. Cover the custard with plastic wrap touching the surface and place into the refrigerator to chill.

TIP: to cool the custard down quickly, spread it in a thinner layer over a larger baking dish.

Preparing the Vanilla Custard:

Once the custard is cooled, finish preparing the filling. Add the softened mascarpone cheese and whisk until the cheese is well incorporated into the custard. Pour in the chilled heavy cream and whisk the mixture on high speed for 4 to 5 minutes until the mixture is fluffy and forms soft peaks.

For the strawberry puree, place the strawberries and sugar into a food processor or blender and pulse into a fine puree.

Making the Filling:

To assemble the cake, use a 9-inch spring form pan. Create the outer ring of ladyfingers first - dip the cookies into the puree on one side only, then place around the edge of the pan. Create the first layer of the cake the same way. Cut the cookies into smaller pieces if needed to fit. Top the first layer of ladyfingers with a generous amount of custard filling.

For the remaining layers, dip the cookies all the way into the puree for a second. Add alternating layers of cookies and custard filling. Top the cake with a layer of custard.

Place the cake into the refrigerator and chill overnight, or for at least 8 hours. When ready to serve, use a cake lifter or large spatulas to transfer the cake onto a stand. Tie a ribbon around the cake for presentation. Garnish the top with sliced strawberries when ready to serve.

EASY, No-Bake Strawberry Tiramisu Cake Recipe!! With Mascarpone Filling & Ladyfingers!

Treat the family to this baked egg custard for a comforting dessert. Serve warm or leave to cool in the fridge overnight and enjoy with poached fruit

Egg custard

Heat the oven to 150C/130C fan/gas 2. Beat together the eggs, vanilla and sugar with a wooden spoon until combined. Mix in the milk and cream and pour into a medium-sized dish. Finely grate over a generous grating of nutmeg.

Half-fill a roasting tin with water to make a bain-marie. Place the dish in the tin so that the water comes about three-quarters of the way up the sides of the dish. Bake for 45-50 mins, or until just set with a slight wobble in the centre. Serve warm or leave to cool in the fridge overnight. Serve with poached fruit.

This recipe is an amalgam of research from Daring Bakers, Semi Swede, Martha Stewart, with my own pastry elements. It makes one large 9-inch cake. This is an intermediate baking project, which means you need to know the basics of making a successful sponge cake that has no chemical leavens. This recipe has been edited 2/19/23 for easier assembly. I believe it is now approachable for most home bakers. I&#039;ve also added a video to the blog post for action assembly of this cake. I think it will be a helpful tool for beginners attempting this confection.

Swedish Princess Cake (Prinsesstårta)

Leaf green food color

rose icing decorations (I used Wilton)

Clear extract (any flavor)

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and line a 9-inch round springform pan with parchment paper.

Make the sponge: Place the eggs and sugar in a mixing bowl and beat on high speed until pale and thickened. Properly whipped batter should be light and thick, and fall in a ribbon back into the bowl leaving trails of batter on the surface. Set a timer for 5 minutes; the mixture should triple in volume. In a separate bowl, whisk the flours (or cornstarch), baking powder and salt together. Carefully fold the dry mixture into the egg mixture until thoroughly combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 27-30 minutes or until a toothpick tester comes out clean. Let the cake cool slightly in the pan for a few minutes then remove the springform collar. Peel away the parchment and let cool completely on a wire rack.

Optional: The baked genoise will be lightweight and the exterior dry and firm.  When it&#39;s completely cool, wrap the cake in plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator overnight to soften the cake&#39;s exterior. This will make it easier to cut. The cake can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Make the custard filling: Stir together the milk, egg yolks, cornstarch, and sugar in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens. The minute the mixture starts to thicken, remove it from the heat source and whisk vigorously. Stir in the vanilla. Transfer to a bowl and let cool slightly. Press plastic wrap over the surface of the custard and refrigerate until firm. The chilled custard should be thick and hold in the bowl of a spoon.

Make the stabilized whipped cream: Sprinkle the gelatin over the 2 tablespoons of water in a small bowl. Let stand until set. Place the heavy cream in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a whip attachment. Set mixer speed to medium and beat until soft peaks form. Gradually add in the powdered sugar and then mix in the vanilla. Heat gelatin in the microwave for 5-7 seconds, or until completely liquid. Gradually add liquid gelatin to whipped cream in a thin stream with the mixer running. After all of the gelatin is added, increase mixer speed to high and beat to stiff peaks.  Remove 1/2 cup of the whipped cream and set aside.

Build the layers: Torte the cake into three layers using a serrated knife. The layers will be very thin so do this carefully. Place the bottom cake layer on a plate or cake board. Spread on the raspberry jam. Top with 1/2 of the custard filling. Top with a second cake layer. Spread over the remaining 1/2 of custard. Pile all of the whipped cream on top and smooth into a dome shape using a large spatula. Place the final cake layer on top and press down so that all of the cake’s edges are smoothed against the whipped cream and a dome shape is formed. Cover with the reserved 1/2 cup of stabilized whipped cream.

Prep and cover with marzipan: Dust a work surface with powdered sugar. Knead the marzipan with your hands to soften and place it on the work surface. Add a small amount of leaf green food color to the marzipan and knead in until a consistent green color is achieved. Lightly add powdered sugar as needed to prevent sticking. Roll it to a large circle, lifting to occasionally dust underneath with powdered sugar to prevent sticking. Gently lay the marzipan circle over the top of the cake and use your hands to form the marzipan to the shape of the cake. Trim the excess marzipan from the bottom of the cake using a pizza or pastry wheel. Gently tuck the bottom edges of the marzipan under the cake using the back of a butter knife.

Decors: Paint the white Wilton candy roses with a little Baker’s Rose food color dissolved in clear extract. Use a kitchen-dedicated art brush with soft bristles so the food color can easily be brushed between the petals.

Tint leftover marzipan with a little more leaf green food color, and roll flat on a powdered sugar-dusted work surface. Cut small star-shaped flowers from the marzipan using a fondant cutter. Use leftover buttercream or a dot of corn syrup to attach the star shape to the bottom of the candy rose.

Attach the rose to the top center of the cake using buttercream or a dot of corn syrup. Dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar using a small sieve.

The cake needs to be refrigerated at least one hour, or overnight is best. Keep chilled until serving time and any leftovers need to be refrigerated as well.

Quick and Easy Vegan Custard

Measure the oat milk

Measure the oat milk and pour it in a medium-sized saucepan.

And the vanilla sugar,

And the vanilla sugar, the caster sugar, the cornflour and the turmeric. Mix with a hand whisk.

Bring to a gentle

Bring to a gentle boil on medium heat, mixing constantly with a hand whisk.

When it starts boiling,

When it starts boiling, whisk faster to make sure the mixture doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan. It's ready when the mixture is thick and creamy, just like real custard.

Remove from the heat

Remove from the heat and transfer to a bowl to cool or start using it right away as required. To avoid the formation of a crust on your vegan custard, place a layer of cling film on the top. Remove the cling film before using the custard.
