Haluski is an easy quick delectable recipe combining cabbage, noodles and bacon.  It will quickly become one of your family's favorites sides.

Cook egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain well.

In small ziploc bag combine paprika, onion powder, oregano, salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper

In large skillet add bacon and cook until almost completely browned. Add onions and cook for additional 2-3 minutes. Add cabbage and cook until it is tender; approximately 10 minutes. Add garlic and cook for additional 1 minute. Sprinkle with seasoning. Add egg noodles and stir to combine.

My mother is czech and we had this frequently when I was growing up in Ohio.  We love it as adults.  My mother made it with elbow macaroni but it sounds so good with Amish egg noddles.  They are available in Colorado.

This Haluski (Cabbage and Noodles) recipe is made with egg noodles, bacon, cabbage, and lots of butter is ringing the dinner bell for tonight! Whether you&#039;re looking for a simple side or a buttered noodle dish transformed into a full meal, this recipe is the answer.

Haluski (Cabbage and Noodles)

bacon (thick cut, and chopped)

butter (unsalted)

onions

green cabbage

salt (or

¼ teaspoon pepper (or

egg noodles (medium-wide)

In a large Dutch oven cook the bacon until almost crisp.

To the same Dutch oven add 3 tbsp of the butter and melt. Add the onions and saute for 5 minutes until soft and translucent.

Add the cabbage, salt and pepper, stir everything together and cook for 10 minutes covered, until the cabbage softens.

Meanwhile, cook the noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Add the cooked noodles to the Dutch oven, remaining 3 tbsp of butter and stir. Cook for a couple more minutes, until everything is heated through.

Taste for seasoning and adjust with salt and pepper as necessary. Serve warm with lots of freshly ground black pepper.

Cabbage and Noodles

oz bag Reames Frozen Egg Noodles

oz thick cut bacon (7-8 slices, cut into ½ pieces)

garlic (minced)

¼ tsp pepper

butter

Prepare Reames frozen egg noodles according to package directions. When they are done, drain and place back in sauce pan with butter.

Meanwhile, in a large nonstick skillet cook bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel lined plate.

Add the diced onion to the bacon grease in skillet. Cook until the onion begins to soften, about 2 minutes.

Add the sliced cabbage and garlic to skillet and cook until tender, about 10 minutes. Stir through out cooking to make sure the cabbage cooks evenly. Season with salt and pepper.

Stir cabbage and bacon into noodles and serve.

Instant Pot Cabbage and Pasta | Haluski Recipe

Butter (melted)

Onion (diced)

Mushrooms (sliced)

cabbage (chopped)

marjoram

Kosher Salt

Frozen Peas and Carrots

Place butter, onion, mushrooms, cabbage, marjoram, salt, and pepper into the Instant Pot.

Add water and pasta and mix well.

Scatter peas and carrots on top. Do not stir.

Close the lid. Press PRESSURE COOK, and cook on HIGH PRESSURE for 5 minutes. Allow the pot to rest undisturbed for 10 minutes, and then release all remaining pressure.

Serve and enjoy!

Cook pasta in lots of salted boiling water, drain, and set aside.

Meanwhile, in a nonstick pan, melt butter. Add mushrooms and saute until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Add cabbage, peas and carrots, marjoram, salt,  and pepper to the pan and cook, stirring from time to time until the cabbage has softened.

Remove the pan from the heat. Add in cooked, drained pasta, and toss together.

Hungarian Haluski with Spaetzle

shallot (minced)

egg noodles prepared as directed (or create your own noodles)

Sauté shallot in a dutch oven with 2 tbsp butter over medium heat for about 5 minutes.

Add chopped cabbage and continue cooking for another 5 mins.

For spaetzel, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Mix together eggs, flour, and salt.

Fill spaetzle maker with dough and press over boiling to create noodles. Let cook for about 30-45 seconds then scoop out with a spider strainer.

Add spaetzle noodles and remaining butter to cabbage mixture, add salt and pepper to taste and toss. Serve hot!

Cabbage and noodles with added carrots and tofu, cooked with vegan butter and sprinkled with pepper.

Vegan Haluski - Cabbage and Noodles

canola oil

sweet onion

carrots

cabbage (about 1 small head)

garlic powder

Salt

ground pepper (or more to taste)

turmeric ((optional))

(14 oz) container tofu (optional)

noodles egg-less egg noodles, or bean thread noodles)

vegan butter (or vegan margarine)

Boil your noodles according to package directions, drain and rinse.

Slice onion into long thin slices.

Put oil in the bottom of a large pot and add the onion, sprinkle with a little salt, and cook on low for about 8 minutes until the onion starts to look translucent.

Cut the cabbage into long skinny pieces about 1/8 of an inch wide, while the onions are cooking.

Shred the carrots into small pieces with a grater or food processor.

Add the cabbage and carrots, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and turn up the heat to medium.

Add tofu if desired. Drain, press and crumble a pound of tofu into the pot.

Add the garlic powder, turmeric, salt, and pepper and let it all cook for about 10 minutes stirring frequently until the cabbage wilts down and loses its bright color.

Rinse the noodles again to make them wet and avoid sticking to each other.

Add the noodles and butter to the pot and mix well and cook for another minute or 2 until all the butter has melted and is coating the noodles and veggies.

Turn off the heat and add additional salt and fresh ground pepper to taste.

Instant Pot Cabbage and Noodles with kielbasa - Haluski - is a simple dinner of with buttered egg noodles, cabbage, onions and smoked sausage. Easy and so good!

Instant Pot Cabbage and Noodles

rope kielbasa smoked sausage (sliced)

egg noodles

water

salt and pepper (to taste)

Hit SAUTE on the Instant Pot, and when it reads Hot, add 1 tablespoon of butter, the onion and kielbasa, and cook until onions are slightly soft

Hit CANCEL, and use some of the water to deglaze pot, if necessary

Add the sliced cabbage, then egg noodles and then, the water. The water won&#x27;t cover the noodles, but this is fine.  Add 3 tablespoons of butter over the noodles

Place the lid on the pressure cooker, make sure vent is on Sealing position, then hit PRESSURE COOK for 2 minutes. Pot will take a few minutes to reach pressure, then begin cooking

When pot beeps, do a quick or gradual quick release if liquid squirts out. When pin drops, remove lid, and hit CANCEL to turn pot off.

Noodles will not be fully cooked, but start stirring everything together, and they will soften and cook as you mix them with the liquid from the pot. Hit SAUTE and cook for 1 or 2 minutes to help reduce extra liquid if needed.

Hit CANCEL, stir in remaining butter, and add salt and pepper to taste

Pour Haluski into a serving bowl or platter, and serve with sour cream or cottage cheese, if desired

Really enjoyed my version of this recipe. I used angel hair pasta and used beef broth instead of water. Only problem I had was that the angel hair was not well-suited for this, which is on me, not you. The angel hair did not completely cook until I added a bit more water and cooked for a few more minutes. After I got the pasta done, it was great! I am a lifelong veggie hater so I am always looking for good recipes that can improve my veggie intake. (I am almost 70 years old and still have daddy issues w/food, where he would force me to eat them. And eggs as well!).

Excellent!  I had another type of noodle/pasta, so I just cooked on 4 min instead of 2.  Turned out perfect.

Just made this (sans sausage) as a side for my corned beef. Turned out perfect! I was skeptical at the noodles finishing cooking as you stirred, took about 5 min vs the 1-2 stated in recipe, but they do cook through to the perfect tenderness. Only thing changed is adding 3Tbsp of minced garlic before adding the water. And I love that they’re not literally dripping in butter like they always seem to on the stovetop. Will definitely make this one again!

Turned out perfect and delicious! Huge hit with the family and not too hard to make.

Second time making this... still a favorite! This time I added 1/4 cup of half and half at the end with the butter. Gave it a nice texture.

I made this today and it was delicious. I used two bags of cabbage.  When the food was done I was worried because the noodles didn’t seem cooked. But when I stirred it they cooked right through.  Thank you for an amazing recipe
