Cream cheese

g of Mild spreadable cheese

Butter

shallot

sweet red paprika

scallions

black pepper

Finely chop the shallot and scallions

Mix all ingredients in a medium sized bowl

Add black pepper to taste

Serve on bread or toast

Blended cream cheese is flavored with a few ingredients, then topped with decadent warm sugared pecans in this French Quarter Cheese Spread. It’s sweet and salty, and just an incredible tasting easy, festive appetizer for holiday gatherings!

French Quarter Cheese Spread

package cream cheese (, softened to room temperature)

onion

garlic (, finely minced)

unsalted butter (, cubed)

brown sugar

worcestershire sauce

spicy brown mustard

pecans

assorted sturdy crackers (, for serving)

In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, onion, and garlic until thoroughly incorporated. Transfer to a serving plate; shape into a 6-inch disk. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour, then bring to near room temperature before you make the pecan mixture.

In a small saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard. Cook and stir over medium heat for 2-3 minutes or until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from the heat; stir in pecans.

Cool slightly for a couple minutes. Spoon over cream cheese mixture, allowing it to fall over the sides.

Serve immediately with crackers and watch everyone fight over it!

Or switch it up to make combos like chives and basil or shallots and mint. Or  take the short short cut: Use Simon &amp; Garfunkel rub and blend it in with a little salt.

Prep. Let the cheese sit at room temp for about an hour to make it easy to mix. Low fat or spreadable cream cheese are easy to work in 15 minutes or less. Or microwave it for 10 seconds to soften it.

Blend in the seasonings with a fork. Let it age in the fridge for 4 hours or more if possible. This allows the oil-soluble flavors in the herbs to be extracted and marry with the cheese.

Serve. It is easier to spread on breads and crackers at room temperature. If there is any left over, plop it onto some plastic wrap and roll it into a ball or cylinder with the plastic tight against it and refrigerate. It&#039;ll last at least a week.

Do not separate rolls. Use long serrated knife to cut block of rolls horizontally in half; place bottom halves of rolls in 13x9-inch pan.

Mix pimento spread, cheddar and pimentos until blended; spread evenly onto cut sides of rolls.

Place ham on bottom halves of rolls; cover with tops of rolls.

Mix remaining ingredients until blended; drizzle over sandwiches. Cover with foil. Let stand 20 min.

Bake sandwiches (covered) 20 min. or until heated through.

In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer to combine the cheddar cheeses, cream cheese, mayonnaise, yogurt, and liquid from the pimentos until creamy and fluffy, about 3 minutes.  Stir in the pimentos and seasonings.

In a large sauce pan, combine flour and sugar, stir in vinegar and slowly stir in evaporated milk.  Stir in cheese.

Place sauce pan over low heat (if you cook over too high of heat it will curdle and will not be the smooth texture you desire).

Stir constantly until cheese has melted.  Cook three to five minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in pimentos with juice.

Place in a glass dish and cover with plastic wrap to prevent a film.

Refrigerate at least 4 hours before serving.
