This delicious Cranberry Orange Sauce recipe is a classic that is perfect for Thanksgiving and the holiday season. It is super easy to make with a few simple ingredients and can be made ahead of time!

Cranberry Orange Sauce

(340 grams/12 ounces) fresh cranberries

orange (about 1/4 cup juice)

organic cane sugar

cinnamon

Place all ingredients in a medium-sized pot and bring to a simmer over medium heat.

Stir occasionally for about 15-20 minutes or until cranberries have burst and sauce has thickened (will continue to thicken as it cools).

Let cool, remove cinnamon stick and refrigerate until serving time.  Can be served warm, at room temperature or chilled.

Cranberry Sauce doesn’t have to come out of a tin can. This homemade recipe makes for the perfect holiday side dish. Fresh cranberries are cooked with orange zest, orange juice, and brown sugar to create a thick, colorful, sweet, delicious fruit reduction that your guests are sure to love.

cranberries, divided

water

orange juice, (about 1 whole orange)

light brown sugar, sugar

tsp orange zest

Rinse your cranberries thoroughly to remove any dirt and pick through any bad cranberries. Reserve 1/2 cup of cranberries and set aside.

In a medium saucepan combine the remaining cranberries, water, orange juice and sugar.

Bring to a boil then reduce the mixture to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes or until the sauce if thickened and the cranberries have split open. Take off of the heat and stir in the orange zest and the 1/2 cup of reserved cranberries.

Allow the cranberry sauce to cool before serving or refrigerate until you are ready to serve.

Easy Orange Cranberry Sauce (3 Ingredients!)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (176 C) and set out an 8 x 8-inch ceramic or glass baking dish (or other dish of a similar size // use a 9 x 13 pan if making a double batch).

To the baking dish, add cranberries, orange zest, orange juice, and maple syrup. Stir to combine.

Bake for ~45-50 minutes or until the cranberries are bubbly and tender. Then remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.

Use a potato masher (or wooden spoon) to gently smash cranberries into a loose sauce. If you’d prefer it to be saucier, add a bit more orange juice at this time. Add more maple syrup to taste for a sweeter sauce. You could also transfer it to a food processor if you prefer it completely smooth.

Serve at room temperature (our preference), warmed, or chilled.

Leftovers keep covered in the refrigerator up to 1 week or in the freezer up to 1 month. Can be reheated in the microwave or in a 350 F (176 C) oven until warmed through.

OVEN (our preferred method)

Add all ingredients (cranberries, orange zest, orange juice, maple syrup) to a medium saucepan and stir to combine.

Bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer (covered) for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries are tender and most have burst open. Remove lid and continue simmering (uncovered), stirring occasionally and gently mashing with a wooden spoon, until the mixture has thickened and no whole cranberries remain — about 5-10 minutes. Remove from the heat and let cool for a few minutes.

If you’d prefer it to be saucier, add a bit more orange juice at this time. Add more maple syrup to taste for a sweeter sauce. You could also transfer it to a food processor if you prefer it completely smooth.

Leftovers keep covered in the refrigerator up to 1 week or in the freezer up to 1 month. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator if frozen and reheat in the microwave, in a saucepan, or in a 350 F (176 C) oven until warmed through.

Healthy Cranberry Sauce 

(120 ml) fresh-squeezed orange juice* (about 1 large orange)

vanilla extract

orange zest, cinnamon stick,

Add all ingredients to a medium pot and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 6-8 minutes. Stir the mixture frequently to ensure nothing burns or sticks to the pan. The filling is “done” once it has thickened and most of the cranberries have popped. 

Use a fork or potato masher to pop the remainder of the cranberries, if desired. Let cool completely before serving as desired; leftovers will keep in the fridge for up to one week.

This is so good! I added a finely chopped green apple because I thought it would taste good, and it did! Highly recommend

14.4 oz cranberries (4 cups, fresh or frozen)

6.6 oz white sugar (1 cup)

Place all the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a soft boil over medium heat. Stir to allow the sugar to dissolve.

Boil for 10- 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. The Thanksgiving cranberry sauce will begin to thicken as the berries burst open, creating the texture of a cranberry jam.Taste test before removing from the heat. The homemade cranberry sauce will continue to thicken even after it&#39;s been removed from the heat.Finally, transfer it to a serving bowl and let cool down.

Fridge: It will keep for up to 2 weeks in an unopened, sterilized container in the fridge. Once opened, use it within 4 days.Freezer: Store in an air-tight freezer-friendly container or ice cube trays for up to 4-6 months. To use, simply defrost in the fridge overnight and enjoy.

Made with just 5 ingredients and in less than 30 minutes, this easy recipe for fresh cranberry sauce with orange juice will add the perfect zing to your Holiday meal, without being cloyingly sweet.

cranberries (or frozen)

orange zest (from l large navel orange)

maple syrup (see notes)

Place the fresh cranberries in a strainer and rinse well (skip if using frozen cranberries.) Wash, dry, and zest the orange using a Microplane.

Combine

In a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine 1 pound of cranberries, ½ cup of orange juice concentrate, 1 teaspoon orange zest, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 2 tablespoons of maple syrup together.

Simmer

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring every couple of minutes, until the cranberries have begun to pop and burst open and the juices begin to thicken. Be sure to watch the sauce closely as it simmers, so that the sauce does not burn. If you notice too much liquid evaporating, add ¼ cup of water or orange juice as needed. And keep in mind that your sauce will thicken as it cools.

Serve

Cool to room temperature and then transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 12 hours before serving.

Cranberry Orange Sauce Recipe

apple cider

coconut sugar

Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Stir to combine.

Bring to boil and then immediately reduce to simmer.  Let simmer, uncovered, for approximately 25-35 minutes.

This was delicious and super simple! Will definitely be adding this to the yearly rotation!

It’s delicious!  (I didn’t have all the ingredients on hand... no orange in the house, but frozen orange juice in the freezer and fresh lemon zest instead worked great!).

Classic cranberry sauce is so easy to make. It&#039;s a million times better than the canned stuff. This is perfectly spiced with the most delicious hint of vanilla and orange.

Cranberry Sauce

cranberries

brown sugar

white sugar

salt

orange zest

orange (about 3 to 4 tablespoons)

ginger

In a medium saucepan, set over medium heat, add the cranberries.

Zest the orange and add the zest to the cranberries.

Squeeze in the orange juice, along with all of the other ingredients.

Bring to a simmer and cook for about 10 to 15 minutes, until the cranberries have burst and the sauce has reduced slightly. Give it a taste (be careful, it&#039;ll be hot!) and adjust the seasonings. You may want it to be a bit sweeter.

Remove the cinnamon stick and discard. Transfer to the refrigerator to chill. The cranberry sauce will thicken as it cools.

Keeps in the fridge when stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

I make this recipe for the holidays every year. So easy and so much better than the can. Plus, it makes the house smell amazing! Leftover sauce goes on buttered toast!
