Preheat oven to 350ºF. Lightly spray a 9x13x2-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Pour cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, chicken broth, rice and onion soup mix in the bottom of the baking dish. Whisk together. (you can do this in a bowl and pour it into the baking dish if you prefer).

Season both sides of pork chops with seasoned pepper. Place on top of rice mixture.

Cover tightly with foil and bake for 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes.

Homemade Onion Soup Mix

dry onion flakes (also called dehydrated onion)

salt

thyme

paprika

dry mustard

garlic powder

tsp black pepper

In a small mixing bowl, combine all ingredients.

Store in an airtight container.

To use, stir into recipes as you would commercial onion soup mix (about 1 to 2 tablespoons per 1/2 cup sour cream for dip).

Dry Onion Soup Mix Recipe

Salisbury Steak with Onion Soup Mix: A Simple, Savory Dish

Combine ingredients in a bowl

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, half of the onion soup mix, milk, and egg. Mix until well combined.

Shape the patties

Using your hands, shape the mixture into six equal-sized oval-shaped patties.

Brown the patties

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Brown the patties on both sides, cooking for about five minutes per side. Then, remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Prepare sauce

In the same skillet, use the leftover oil to mix the remaining onion soup mix, water, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir this mixture well, and bring it to a boil.

Simmer patties in sauce

Place the browned meat patties back into the skillet with the simmering sauce. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

A homemade copycat version of Lipton&#x27;s French Onion and Beefy onion soup mix that you can make in minutes!  Best of all, it costs a fraction of the price of store-bought!!

Copycat Lipton Onion Soup Mix

dry minced onions

Grind celery seeds in a coffee grinder, or crush carefully with the bottom of a glass.

Add all ingredients to medium-sized bowl and stir to combine.

Store in an air-tight container in a cool, dry place.

To make French Onion chip or veggie dip:Stir 3 tablespoons of dry onion soup mix into 16 ounces of sour cream.

To make Beefy French Onion soup:Add 3 tablespoons of onion soup mix to a medium saucepan and stir in 4 cups of water.  Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and simmer for approximately 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions have softened and soup has thickened.

To add flavor to pot roasts:Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of dry mix over roast.  Cook using your preferred cooking method.  (I like using an Instant Pot pressure cooker, and I put in 3 tablespoons of soup mix and 1 can of beef broth with my roast, then cook at HIGH pressure for 90 minutes with NPR.)  For extra flavor and ease, use the leftover liquid and drippings to make onion gravy!

To make onion-roasted potatoes:Toss about 2 lbs of diced or quartered (peeled or unpeeled depending on preference) potatoes in a large bowl with 1/3 cup olive oil and 3 tablespoons soup mix until thoroughly coated.  Spread potatoes onto a baking sheet and roast in 425 degrees Fahrenheit oven for 35-40 minutes.

To make French Onion compound butter:Mix 1-2 tablespoons of dry soup mix with 1 stick (1/2 cup) of softened butter.  Use for searing salmon, pork chops, or steaks!
